Who really was a bigger letdown? Matthews/Marner or Keefe?Dubas had an excellent trade deadline, but his coach totally shit the bed.

lol what? Nash and Foligno are the only deadline acquisitions who even got into any playoff games, and they were both completely useless. His trade deadline was a complete failureDubas had an excellent trade deadline, but his coach totally shit the bed.

Keefe 100%
I’m not convinced both Matthews and Marner weren’t burnt out from being overplayed all year.
It's 56 games man... If it was a burnout problem, something is seriously wrong with their conditioning.Keefe 100%

All the players he traded for we’re hurt that’s some good skill there I think he got fleeced againWho really was a bigger letdown? Matthews/Marner or Keefe?
100% they were burnt out. Furthermore when Marner is clearly struggling the coach needs to get him an easier matchup. Break up the lines. Keefe is a terrible coach

I don't know why more teams don't do this, but if a team is clogging the zone and has immobile dmen, don't try to go through them, employ more of a dump and chase and let the OTHER team try to make plays. You can then counter attack and/or cause turnovers.
It’s a condensed schedule man. They had less rest than a normal season.
I said before the season that no forwards should be playing 20 minutes on a regular basis, because it’s too much and they’ll burn out. They played like 22... and they burnt out....
The Leafs do not dump and chase and haven't for a while in case you haven't noticed.
Keefe pretty well outlawed it since coming aboard.
The players try to prance across the blue-line with the puck and find short outlet passes.
Well, that's what I mean, should have tried it now.
I mean it's possible I guess..
I guess the extra minute more of TOI that Matthews averaged more than Mackinnon made that big of a difference?
Keefe played them 24-25min some games. Keefe is a horrible coachIt’s a condensed schedule man. They had less rest than a normal season.

One other thing I'd like to bring up too is that the Leafs strength and conditioning team obviously has a say in these types of things as well. These guys get paid a lot of money to know their shit. Surely they'd have informed Keefe that it's a pending disaster to keep playing them for those minutes, no?It’s a condensed schedule man. They had less rest than a normal season.

Marner looked like he had no shortage of energy to me until it was time to leap in for a loose puck against one of Montreal's big dmen...The only reason I would even entertain the argument that they were gassed is that they couldn't complete simple passes and lost the zone every shift, they had to do twice the backchecking they normally do when they can actually make a 5 foot pass and keep the cycle alive.
