Keefe 100%

I’m not convinced both Matthews and Marner weren’t burnt out from being overplayed all year.

100% they were burnt out. Furthermore when Marner is clearly struggling the coach needs to get him an easier matchup. Break up the lines. Keefe is a terrible coach

lol what? Nash and Foligno are the only deadline acquisitions who even got into any playoff games, and they were both completely useless. His trade deadline was a complete failure

As was his tenure as Leafs GM to date.

Ownership should not give Dubas an opportunity to ruin the rest of the Leafs window, get him out of there before he does any more damage.

It's funny how Babcock's under utilization of star players had fans up in arms and now we see the other side of the equation when they've been given massive minutes and are gassed when it really matters.

I don't know why more teams don't do this, but if a team is clogging the zone and has immobile dmen, don't try to go through them, employ more of a dump and chase and let the OTHER team try to make plays. You can then counter attack and/or cause turnovers.

It’s unfortunate that Foligno got injured. That was an excellent addition.

Not sure where Hutton went, but he would have been nice to replace Muzzin. That was a good addition.

Riley Nash should have played instead of Thornton. He would have been a useful PKer and defensive zone faceoff guy. That was a good addition.

Dave Rittich wasn’t great, but with both Andersen and Campbell injured, they had to add something just in case.

It's 56 games man... If it was a burnout problem, something is seriously wrong with their conditioning.

It’s a condensed schedule man. They had less rest than a normal season.

I said before the season that no forwards should be playing 20 minutes on a regular basis, because it’s too much and they’ll burn out. They played like 22... and they burnt out....

The Leafs do not dump and chase and haven't for a while in case you haven't noticed.

Keefe pretty well outlawed it since coming aboard.

The players try to prance across the blue-line with the puck and find short outlet passes.

I mean it's possible I guess..

I guess the extra minute more of TOI that Matthews averaged more than Mackinnon made that big of a difference?

Well, that's what I mean, should have tried it now.

When the screwup is this big somebody gets fired. The question is who. Players will be traded but one of Shanahan, Dubas, or Keefe will be fired. For sure one of those 3. Players have no real accountability they just get traded but management gets fired.

My guess is Shanahan fires Dubas. The new GM will fire Keefe and bring in his own guy. Dubas used his last lifeline on firing Babcock.

Keefe was disgusting. Playing Sandin over Dermott in Game 5 after a team gets you a shutout, not once splitting up Matthews/Marner with 0 production, constantly playing Joe Thornton in stupid situations, playing Sandin over Rielly (the only one giving a damn other than Brodie in the last 6 mins of game 7).

So many things to point out, Keefe just is not an NHL coach

Well, that's what I mean, should have tried it now.

Lots of teams do it.

The Bruins/Isles/VGK/Lightning utilize it as a key tactic for gaining possession and taking licks on opponents' d-men...

It's worthwhile if you have the horses that can play that game.

The Leafs don't.

The only reason I would even entertain the argument that they were gassed is that they couldn't complete simple passes and lost the zone every shift, they had to do twice the backchecking they normally do when they can actually make a 5 foot pass and keep the cycle alive.

Keefe played them 24-25min some games. Keefe is a horrible coach

One other thing I'd like to bring up too is that the Leafs strength and conditioning team obviously has a say in these types of things as well. These guys get paid a lot of money to know their shit. Surely they'd have informed Keefe that it's a pending disaster to keep playing them for those minutes, no?

I think Shanahan, Dubas and Keefe are all coming back next year...I think the fact that there's a lack of fans in the arena softens the blow of lost playoff revenues, which would be felt more heavily in normal years.

Marner looked like he had no shortage of energy to me until it was time to leap in for a loose puck against one of Montreal's big dmen...
