Luc Robitaille Yaaaahooooo!!! We are contenders!!!

It was absolutely a mistake to can a guy that’s brought 2 cups and a WCF appearance to LA. Something I don’t think most of us dreamed was ever going to happen with this club.

I don’t know if Lombardi was fired for the three year run you speak of or the fact that Luc convinced AEG he could get more out of this core than Dean, who was unwilling to acquiesce to the players demands regarding Sutter. In fact Deans last season might have been the last straw for Dean in keeping the core together. You look at his last interview with Bob and he was real pissed and tore up inside on what to do with this roster. I think AEG/Luc were nervous he was actually about to blow it up.

Dean does great at rebuilds, probably the best General Manager in the game to do them and we needed to retool the core. Obviously, AEG/Luc wasn’t on board.
I’m not a Luc apologist but this is pure theory and unfounded speculation.

It was even bad on these boards with the DL and Sutter stuff. Many didn’t believe DL would adapt to the new NHL. Thanks to his own comments and the USA debacle.

**** were missing brown and an extremly talented player in Vilardi. Secondary scoring right there. But it's scary to think Vilardi may end up being a bust, he is rarely healthy

Vilardi is not gonna make a difference . Kopitar looks terrible he’s supposed to be a difference maker . Can’t even skate . Since this season is done and they can’t win I don’t think they should risk Vilardi getting hit big once and retiring at 20.

Damn my dad is actually pissed off more than I've seen. He says Quick hasn't made any big saves, and the team looks awful against an awful roster. Can't continue on like this. Can't remember him saying that ever.

Stevens must really be sucking the life out of the players

Agree with him, from what I saw during naps, Quick looked horrible today, First goal, not much he can do, the 2nd and 3rd goals he has to have...or the 4th one too, either way, he wasn't good today at all....

I rag on individual players who are doing awful. When I see an entire team giving up its on the coaching.

And I'm not against trading a beloved player to wake up the players.

This is the third coach they've given up on.

I'm really liking the should've kept Lombardi thing though. It's been creeping into Sutter too. They now suck so much that we're going back on the endless criticism of those two after June 13th, 2014. In terms of expectations, can't say I would've expected that. Seems like, since the players went to Lombardi's house to weep with him after he got fired, that they've maybe turned on the organization itself. Get the money, but dog it on the ice. The franchise got rid of a loyal friend in Lombardi, and over time they've come to understand that they miss Daddy Sutter keeping them in line. Moral of the story, don't listen to children. Give them what they need, not what they want.

I mean if Vilardi is one big hit from being a vegetable at this age, then waiting a year won't change anything.

During naps, how the games were meant to be watched at this point lol. Been there and done that

I agree I think he will bust hard . And JAD won’t be anything more than a bottom 6er not sure why people love our last 2 drafts . I like the Sodergran pick and Mikey Anderson . Kupari should be a good 3rd liner . We don’t ever get any home run picks

The Kings need Sutter's system back. They need Lombardi back. We've come full circle.

They don't have a UFA worth anything. Toffoli, Muzzin, Pearson, Martinez have all sucked. Carter is old with 3 additional seasons on his contract. Blake can't do anything.
They all have value. In some cases term isn’t bad to add in a trade. If they walked away with a couple of first it would be a start.

LOL tell me about it, 1st period was meh, they came out so much better vs NY, figured to have Kopitar back, ok, let's go...and...just...blah....first goal..and they gave up,

Bright side...Iafallo's pass to Doughty was just beaut, Iafallo, and Rempal both look good, both young, I still think Wagner needs some seasoning, not sure why Amadio didnt play today, Fox made it sound like last minute change, so who knows....but we have some decent youth, it's a start.

We get 50 goal scoring destined for the 4th line junior players.

Have to draft top 5 to get home run picks, anything after in most drafts is picking safe and hoping to get NHL players etc,

Well here's a couple of thoughts, Terry Murray, Sutter, and Stevens are all Lombardi hirings, my issue is that Blake should have gotten rid of them all and got a new head coach who can implement a new system correctly, while being a new voice.

The biggest failure of blake and Co is that Stevens stayed.

I'm not at the point where I long for Sutter and Lombardi.

But what I do long for is a clear direction and a willingness to completely change the tone of the franchise.

A new head coach would have been the right way to do it.

Hell I even like what Blake has done for the most part but regardless I don't like the country club mentality this team has sorta bought into.

Lombardi had to be fired, you can't keep a guy on who had a three year run that he had.

The big mistake was not firing Lombardi and Sutter, but replacing them with their top lieutenants. They should have brought in two people from the outside and started over.

Absolutely true

Which is absolutely scary because Vilardi if healthy is a homerun pick. You watch him play and you see that talent. It's absolutely terrifying the one home run pick the Kings have had from the overrated Futa group has a possibility of making Gaborik look durable.

Which is actually a huge thing, individually I think me and you can agree that the youth players do look talented. Cohesively and deployment is where the problem is imo.

I think it doesn't hurt nuking the staff before you nuke the players as well.

Still not sold that Stevens is the issue, but....it's looking like he can't right the ship regardless...if they had come out strong like they did vs NYI, then probably would have a different outlook, but there was no reason for them to come out this flat, this bad etc.

Meanwhile Dave Tippet got overlooked for our coaching vacancy not once but twice. The guy is one of the best X's and O's guys out there and has proven he knows how to get the best out of his players even the less than average ones. This offseason I for one hope that we give Dave a good old kick of the tires. He was a solid King and knows all about the challenges of playing in slocal.

I think Stevens was one less thing to think about for Blake.

Hell, look how the “core” responded last year.

Now, the playoffs maybe should have cost Stevens his job. But without the right personnel, LA could not roll four up tempo lines.

I don't think you can do both at the same time, unless it's like a Carter deal etc, IF they are to bring in someone new, they HAVE to have the ability to sit down, evaluate and see if Pearson, Toffoli, Amadio, etc are to be kept, can be used etc...I think if you start jettisoning players, and then bring in a new coach, you are committed to a full rebuild at that point, and LA won't do that, they are gonna try and retool if anything.

Kucherov , Point , Arvidsson , Aho , Debrincat

Cmon man, I can go down the list and create a list 50 times deeper than that one and point out guys that failed....yes...you can occasionally hit a homerun in the later picks....occassionally, otherwise your list would be more than 5 names.
