Lombardi had to be fired, you can't keep a guy on who had a three year run that he had.

The big mistake was not firing Lombardi and Sutter, but replacing them with their top lieutenants. They should have brought in two people from the outside and started over.

This is what I think, too. Promoting from within can work, but I really think bringing outside people would light a fire under the players asses. Right now all I see is complacency and confusion. It's like they're trying to play a completely different system under the same team of people. They lost any identity they had.

What a failure. Glad I took a client today and made good money rather than watch this team suck ass.

They were able to get games to O.T. and feast on 3 on 3.

You're thinking of previous seasons. They were 9-7 in OT last year.

Dean Lombardi comes in and comprehensively changes the culture of a perennial loser, culminating in two Cup championships.

Overzealous loyalty to the staff who helped him do this culminates in his unceremonious departure - primarily at the hands of ex-players who won nothing with the franchise and arguably contributed to the losing culture Lombardi wished to exorcise.

These ex-players sell ownership a bill of goods, claiming the team is still competitive when it clearly isn’t. Under their helm, the franchise returns to mediocrity, and the losing culture rears its head once more.

If that ain’t a ****in Greek tragedy, I don’t know what is.

Unceremonious departure? More like an outdated philosophy that was punctuated by that World Cup or Olympic team he was in charge of that couldn't score. People wanted Lombardi gone after the Lucic deal. 2 years before he was actually fired.

Again, they tried to bring in youth and speed. Which everyone wanted. Blake has been gm for one season.

How LA gets through whatever this is will be telling.

I’m guessing if the Kings are out this year, deadline will be busy for Blake.

I’m frustrated too but what has changed from last year?

Aside from missing Brown, shouldn’t they be better?

Was Turgeon the difference?

Carts and Kovy in the lineup is an upgrade.

Team had 98 points last year.

Did they all get married and have kids.

Coaching will be the first and easiest change but something is off. Did they give up on Stevens already?

I don’t know how Stevens is in the room. He doesn’t seem fire and brimstone. I don’t think he has made good adjustments or lineups but that is all I can concretely pick at as a fan.
They got off to a great start last year, mediocre second half. Humiliated in the playoffs, horrific preseason, and now this.

It's time for kings management to decide if we're a playoff team or a rebuild.

To quote Mike E "No more half measures".

Does AEG still have the same commitment to winning? If so, these guys should be shitting their pants.

Damn my dad is actually pissed off more than I've seen. He says Quick hasn't made any big saves, and the team looks awful against an awful roster. Can't continue on like this. Can't remember him saying that ever.

Stevens must really be sucking the life out of the players

""""Nylander...

Just got a text saying we may see some Nylander movement soon....

stay tuned..."""""

And Kings need a BM Movement now - from Eckpoo...sorry, if not supposed to post his crap...but need a minor miracle....Muzzin + Akil Thomas ? Going to cost something like that or more. Not even Stevens could stop Nylander from producing here. Need a legit #2 center and Carter to wing now, I think. Need a "whole lotsa things". Nylander and Kempe have played together some. Seriously, if added Nylander and Brown (next week) this is a different team.

I know Dean made lot of stupid trades and mistakes that cost us a lot but letting him go might be a mistake . He built a culture and made the Kings who they are today . He built a new training facility , he brought in players and culture now it’s just pathetic homies running the show that don’t know what they’re doing . I just don’t see how a team that has Kempe Pearson Toffoli as secondary scorers is saying they don’t have it . Kovy Kopi Carter . The coach and system suck that’s why they are stationed on the pp while other teams move around and get open and get one timers . Obviously coaching and system has lot to do with it .

Unfortunately this is LA where it cool to go to Kings games and none of the fans will just walk out to prove a point . **** this sucks . I hate watching them play this bad . It sucks bad and hurts .

The Kings need Sutter's system back. They need Lombardi back. We've come full circle.

They don't have a UFA worth anything. Toffoli, Muzzin, Pearson, Martinez have all sucked. Carter is old with 3 additional seasons on his contract. Blake can't do anything.

It was absolutely a mistake to can a guy that’s brought 2 cups and a WCF appearance to LA. Something I don’t think most of us dreamed was ever going to happen with this club.

I don’t know if Lombardi was fired for the three year run you speak of or the fact that Luc convinced AEG he could get more out of this core than Dean, who was unwilling to acquiesce to the players demands regarding Sutter. In fact Deans last season might have been the last straw for Dean in keeping the core together. You look at his last interview with Bob and he was real pissed and tore up inside on what to do with this roster. I think AEG/Luc were nervous he was actually about to blow it up.

Dean does great at rebuilds, probably the best General Manager in the game to do them and we needed to retool the core. Obviously, AEG/Luc wasn’t on board.

Are we supposed to be on the players side? They're the ones actually giving the craptastic effort on the ice.

I rag on individual players who are doing awful. When I see an entire team giving up its on the coaching.

And I'm not against trading a beloved player to wake up the players.

My dad is always pessimistic regarding the Kings.

Today is no different.

I laughed when he said they should bring back Darryl and scare the shit out of everyone.

Shit were missing brown and an extremly talented player in Vilardi. Secondary scoring right there. But it's scary to think Vilardi may end up being a bust, he is rarely healthy

At this point, there's really no other option besides a new coaching staff. The Kings have too much invested in aging players - and it's too early in the season - to blow up the roster. If the Kings are one of the worst teams come the deadline, then sure. Go full youth movement. Keep Brown and Kopitar, the guys you want to mold your future team after, and sell off everything else.

AEG went back to the old AEG the second they installed Luc.

Dean added absolutely nothing roster wise his last season here. Don't know if he would blow it up but he wouldn't have signed Kovalchuk or traded for Patches.

Classic Liewieke-era move: go for the name for short-term ticket sales over the long game.

What more do we need to see? The only difference between this team and Taylor era teams is it has a bunch of dudes that won before so you kind of think they can win again v. knowing for sure it won't happen.

Just when you think you've seen the worst, the next game on the schedule comes up. Absolutely pathetic. Can't even fight correctly either.
