If the Kings are getting better while getting younger with cost-controlled young talent, that's great.
My biggest beef with the team has been the "next wave" after Kopitar, Brown, Doughty, Quick.
Once Quick is gone, Campbell and Petersen are expected to fill his role.
Kempe, at this rate the past couple games, is showing he can fill in for Carter. He just needs to improve his consistency
They still need someone who is a more consistent top line scoring threat on the wing.
And, of course, we need reliable younger players ready to come in at D.
I'd settle for selling pieces and losing in the first round/just missing the playoffs. I don't want the Kings to lose just to get a top pick. I wanted change in an organization that was too heavily dependent on vets to re-live 2012-14 and kept sacrificing the future to hold onto that hope.
The Blackhawks were a powerhouse after getting rid of pieces post 2010 cup. The Penguins went nearly a decade with just a few key players but a lot of roster turnover between cups. The Kings seemed like they wanted to keep everyone together as much as possible.
