The Pearson trade was fine. The Kings were absolutely miserable and needed some sort of shakeup to send a message. Pearson wasn't going to fetch much anyway because he had been doing nothing for a long time -any teams interested were just gambling that a change of scenery would do him good.

people were criticizing his treatment of Duchene which is a valid point, i'm not saying i agree or disagree but it was not a stupid argument

Lamoriello, Rutherford, Armstrong, Poile, Fletcher (the Rask for Nino is no way similar to Pearson and Hagelin dont even try) off the top of my head

oh and i also liked most of what Don Sweeney has done (and no he's never been a star player in the NHL), i know he missed out on Barzal, but the way he retooled the team in less than a season was admirable

edit: let's not forget the use of his imagination to pull of that Lucic trade (also flipping Jones), just beautiful

don't ask Chicken GM Blake to think outside the box no no....just rank ur players as per stat see that Pearson has one point....find the fastest skater available and boom trade! I don't know why how some of you fail to see how simplistic this guy is, but in due time... in due time...

Poile has been a GM for about 38 seasons and has 2 division titles and 1 Stanley Cup appearance. His most impressive resume is being a GM for so long despite having almost no success. Rutherford is absolutely hated in Carolina, Canes fans think he absolutely wrecked the team. Fletcher is hated about the same in Minnesota, while Flyers fans are not happy with him as the choice for new GM. Armstrong is floundering and likely won't last much longer in St. Louis. Hell, ask Devils fans what they think of Lou. Point being, all GM's have warts and very few fanbases love theirs.

Can't change the mind of someone who is irrational.

trust me i knew you were baiting me, because everybody has critiques

now please add Blake to that list, i am people after all

Possibly, but what would you have them do when they're benching/trading vets and the youth/secondary leadership is leading the way to wins? Bench the promise and play the vets?

I suppose there’s nothing else to be done, sure. And it’s not like they can’t draft an impact player outside of the top two. But Kakko or Hughes would drastically accelerate a rebuild.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that Kakko/Hughes is the best possible consolation prize to this embarrassment of a season.

yeah pretty much what i said, accidentally on purpose enough to avoid supplemental discipline

meanwhile duncan keith gets 6 games for effectively the same thing

He was actually covering another stick in front of the net right before that so him sliding out to make some sort of challenge was a pretty heady play.
Because Kopitar and Forbort weren't there as back up. Going down to the ice with the shooter THAT CLOSE is stupid. It's the wrong choice. And he wasn't breaking up a pass. He was trying to block a shot. It's why he raised his butt up and back in the end as Loserchek's shot was going high. But these fundamentals we are arguing.

your opinion sucks honestly

Really like Provorov as a player, I know he is having a down season, but I see him winning a Norris at some point in his career.

I do too and most of his down year, I think, is on Hakstol. I know like most young players, esp defensemen, there is growing pains, but Haks was a cranky , spittin' piss and vinegar coach who was very hard on and openly critical (to the press, which I don't agree with) young players. Ghost, Konecky and Patrick also were affected over the last 3 yrs since Haks was hired. Patrick has looked much better since Haks left. Ghost was trashed by Haks2 yrs ago and was told by a couple of the veterans on the team to 'forget what he told you, just play your game' and he got better after that.
I loved Provy from the moment they drafted him and agree he'll be a top d in the game one day. He's very smart. I do think his down year will affect his new contract. He should sign a short term (2 or 3 yrs) deal perhaps.

I mean, personally, I'd rather my player offer SOME sort of challenge than giving him a clear lane AND time from the bottom of the circle. Doughty didn't block the shot and possibly deflected/screened Quick a bit which is a bummer, but him laying down guarantees Voracek doesn't just take an extra second or three and make a move with no contest. If you're arguing I don't know my fundamentals, I'm not gonna go there.

I guess the ref who watched it didn't think it was a penalty. It's not like the play wasn't only 6 feet from him. Should've been a 4 or a major.

Man I was so furious at the time. So mad. It's CLEARLY a purposeful slash (maybe didn't intend face), but with just enough plausible deniability. But it should have at least been a 4 and more than a fine.

I watch a lot of Flyers games(good friend is a fan), so I saw a lot of what you are talking about and I thought Hak should have been gone a long time ago. It really is a shame to see what he did to ghost with the healthy scratches, hopefully he can rebound. As for Provy, I'm a big fan too, was shocked when he ended up falling to the Flyers. Same draft, but Konecny is who I was hoping the Kings would have drafted before they ended up trading for Looch, so a fan of him too.

Or watch you screw up every defensive play with your fall on the ice like a beached whale mentality.
I love how you defiantly defend a defensive play that resulted in a goal.
Cause that worked....

So...in your world every defensive play works? I'm asking because RJ and Tny aren't wrong in their assessment of that play....

What would you have had Doughty do differently?

Terrible analysis.

Doughty laying on the ice limited the shooter's options, meaning Quick could focus on a high shot.

Just because a goal was scored doesn't mean it was defended poorly.

No....but there are higher percentage chances than the one that played out.
And im not wrong either.
Attack the shooter. Force a deflection with the stick. Anything but expose Quick up high. Don't sit back. Attack the puck on defense.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the play y'all are defending, didn't work. Cause ya know.....a goal was scored.

Terrible analysis? Did the play Dewy make save goal? Yeah....tell me about your analysis. Love to hear the defense of a goal. Do you demand your snowflake get a participant ribbon as well?
Quick DIDNT focus on the high shot. He was down in the butterfly.....seriously this is a joke.
And I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, poor defense ends up in goals. Especially when you play the role of pylon instead of actually challenging the shooter.
Y'all should coach the Kings. #loseforhughes

So I'm Drew Doughty, and I release the stick I'm tying up in front and try to get a stick on the play instead of a leg...leaving the wide open stick in front for an easy tap in.

Try again?

You clearly don't seem to recognize the play, the timing of it, or the ramifications of releasing the player he has tied up like RJ says..

Attack the shooter...how? From reception of pass to shot is a second, maybe, maybe 1.5, and DD was tied up with someone,

Force a deflection....I like how easy you make that sound lol

Anything but expose Quick up high....sure, magic fairy dust may work in the beer league you play in, not there.
