Up until the Oiler game they hadn't been getting scoring from anyone over the a pretty large stretch of games. Oiler defense and goaltending is a great cure for snake bitten players. They'll have some confidence back which sucks for the canucks.

Canucks rested. Vegas third in 4 nights on the road. If canucks go into sleepy time for 30 minutes like they've been doing of late they will get stomped. If they play for 60 it will be a good close game.

I'm curious as to why Hoglander is not used on the 2nd unit pp.

A game plan could be for the Canuck bottom 6 to pressure the Vegas defence to tire them out the first couple of periods and the top 6 work more on the defensive side then open it up in the third.
Top 6 would of course still try to score when the opportunity knocks but more defence oriented.

Vegas is a different beast due to their size and how good their bottom six can be. Their defence isn't backwash either. So a plan like that could back fire but if executed it would/could tilt the ice in the Canucks favour in the third period.

AND of course IF this is a game plan the coach would lament on some issues for distraction. This game plan could be negated by playing their bottom six more in the first two periods or with Vegas just whichever two lines. Maybe 1 & 4 so 2 & 3 are fresher in the third.

Will Tocchet let Kuzmenko cook? Will the Canucks continue to pad Boeser's numbers?

Will Vegas get Demko'd again? Or will Van find the "Hill" too steep :D?

It was a big trend in the mid-late 1990s to re-brand your uniforms and change colours/logos or both and basically half the league did it (Buffaslug, Captain Highliner, Pointy Penguin, etc) and literally every other team has ditched the changes and switched back to their original look - as we've done with the colours - but we keep grimly hanging on to that f***ing awful, ugly logo.

Personally, I prefer the orca. It's the best of a bad bunch.

Stick in rink is boring, boring, boring. No character.

Skate is just a mess of spaghetti. Yuck!

To me the orca is the most boring/no character one by a mile.

It just looks like someone badly drew a whale over top of a Cincinnati Reds logo. Or a Calgary Flames logo. Or a Chicago Bears logo.

The orca is not a very good logo, but the skate is a million times worse, in my opinion. It's just embarrassingly cheesy and only works as a throwback retro thing where cheesiness is endearing. I would outright say it's comparable to the Buffaslug in terms of laughable, despite the nostalgia it holds. At least the orca has some professionalism to it and doesn't look like some amateur design made by a dorky teenager trying to be cool and failing. I don't even care about the whole "spaghetti" comparison, it just looks awful the way it's meant to be seen, even if you change the colors.

I think the updated Stick and Rink is the only solid logo we have. The fact that the jersey looks so damn classy and perfect with it despite the logo appearing deceptively boring in isolation is exactly what makes it brilliant, IMO.

I think Johnny Canuck is a good conceptual base that would make the most sense to build a new logo around, but I'm not thrilled with the existing designs of it (the fan V one included).

I’ve seen a variation of Johnny Canucks from like waist up inside a V which is probably the best mock up of a logo based on what the team has used. Not sure what this old school pilot with the Goggles of the stink and rink mean? Guess my history of Canucks isn’t as deep. But that has looked good as well.

But goes back to my prior point of Canuck isn’t a something concrete where you are just updating the logo like Buffalo who has had 3 but always with a Buffalo. LA with a Crown. Ducks with something that looks like a duck. SJ and their 2 main logos though they have a couple of extra sharks logo that I think look way better.

Canucks like the flames. Have the flaming C then that horse one. Something a bit abstract that you can go multiple ways is what the Canucks have.

I have seen those same mock-ups and with some tweaks to the actual Johnny design could be Sharp

I like to see the skate jersey in sporadic doses. It's just overdone right now and why I think the novelty will wear off sooner than they think.

Also, the subtle changes to the skate jersey really turned me off from buying it. The modern ones look like one of those fake knockoffs you used to get at Canadian Tire or Walmart. We have tried and tested designs for retro designs and designers always seem to try and make subtle changes that really screw it all up.

I find it amazing that teams can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a marketing/design team for their logos and some of the ones used by the NHL teams are just meh....

Logos have to have some detail but not over the top since you have so many different items you can put it on, like shot glasses, toques, etc. and not too simple on larger items like hoodies, jerseys, t-shirts, etc.

Canucks have just lacked continuity on their logos, like the teams with animals for example.
 
my major childhood hockey watching years were the early 90s, so it’s a total mindf*** when i watch a game where, say, we’re wearing black skate jersey and calgary is in its classic colours. because like 6 is adrian plavsic, 8 is greg adams, 21 is lumme, 25 is nieuwendyk, 10 is gary roberts, 20 is gary suter. mostly not an issue because there are so many high numbers now, but it’s distracting.

and the whale... i can’t not see messier when i see that logo.

EP finally breaks out today with a 3 point night leading us to a hard fought 3-2 regulation victory.

(Oilers are humbled by the Jets 8-1 and Draisatl goes to Katz telling him that he has played his last game as an Oiler.)

Another big test coming up for the Canucks..I'm sure that Vegas is amped up as well after dropping their last two.

I watched the Vegas /Calgary game, and Vladar had the game of his life..Vegas is one of the best in the league at puck support.
