At least a lot of you now get to see the most fun team to watch in the NHL.

Was hoping for the Avs if only for an easier path. The East in rounds 2 and 3 are probably going to be emotionally and physically draining. If the Panthers can progress, they may gas out by the Final.

The return is about what was expected... for G alone. Jettisoning Rubtsov and Bunny is meh, but having to also add another draft pick is some kind of special. Three extra assets moved is somewhat annoying.

I've never seen of Tippett outside the NHL, but I know he's the guy a lot of you were preparing for and already weren't happy about it.

If G had a handshake deal to re-sign with the Flyers, I'm not sure that it's such a bad deal. If he's gone for good... ehhh.
Flyer cannot afford to re-sign G -- $73MM next year for 13 contracts.....

Best part about the deal is it frees up 2 contract slots right now so that Fletcher can NOT sign our college FA to-be

Let's assume that everyone is telling the truth -

1) Fletcher still had leverage in that he didn't have to trade Giroux (or at the very least held out until the final hour). Florida can downplay the need for Giroux, but he makes them a much better team in what is now a small window of contention for that franchise.
2) They targeted Tippett as the headliner in the deal.

Yup. Call everyone’s bluff and wait till the very end. Either take whatever is offered then or keep him and use the last games as a fair well tour.

Cut the shit. You just said last night, "And seems Chuck doesn't want Tippett." Here's some mustard for that pretzel. You called me complaining about Fletcher wanting Tippett a "hot take."

We either have a GM too milquetoast to force Samoskevich, a player 2 years away, over Tippett, especially with that lame 2024 1st. Or he strongly desired Tippett. There's no winning this one, those are your options. It's Saturday, not Monday at the deadline.
He is a brazenly liar. In my eyes he is very ill and need professional help! Leave him alone!

The fact that it’s Saturday night and Zito was probably sitting down for dinner with his family doesn’t get enough attention. It’s a basic negotiating tactic to draw things out if the offer is not enough. Time crunches make buyers nervous. But Fletcher was probably popping Pepcid like candy.

He could not refuse to trade G, that simply wasn't credible on a number of levels, something is better than nothing and Fletcher wasn't going to screw G.
A threat has to be credible to be effective.

The word was Fletcher didn't want Tippett, and that was holding up the deal.

I suspect Florida thought the other two two forward prospects would be ready next year and wanted to move on from Tippett, the same way if we had a solid center prospect who was ready next season we'd probably move on from Frost.

To me Tippett and Frost are similar, both have upside, but both have been very inconsistent. Tippett is more physically talented, Frost has a higher hockey IQ. Neither is a sure thing at this point in time. It would not surprise me if either player was part of a package for a 2C this summer.

We’ve become one of the franchises that other fans point to say “at least we’re not the them”.

I really need to edit this one. Ducks and Canucks have done some good things and got rid of a couple of dinos. Even Jersey has multiple stars.

Canadiens, Kraken, Hawks?

I absolutely do not look forward to the “he was the only team he would accept a trade to” comments over the next few years as if that absolves Fletcher of once again quite clearly targeting the wrong player.
I call BS on that.... if speculation is correct than G flat out f**** the Flyers. Fletcher is a douche because he should've told the Panthers and G to f themselves.... Only way I would do it if I was Fletch is if its understood that G really is coming back this off season. Than it makes some sense so I reserve my judgement until the off season.... One question I would have..... Why the hell were you so hell bent on going to Florida???? So many options that are just as good... must be his agent pushing this narrative because of taxes....something doesn't seem right tbh... I mean Panthers have never ever been a desired destination lol
