I trust our GM to pick the right door.

Oh I’m quite sure there is a worse 4th door.

That 2024 first is worth way more than a 22 or 23 first in my eyes. The further out the pick is the better as it increases the chances that the dinosaurs go extinct and we get some fresh blood management to make that pick, and at the very least they'd be gone when the pick is being taught how to play the game. I would have wanted an even later pick if we could have got it.

If the Panthers were offering a pick in the year 2854, I'd be cool with it.

The issue is in theory you're right. But the Flyers are desperate, and it's possible that the pick has an expiration date to get liquidated. But because it's so far away, its value in doing so is lower. It's plausible this team is low end bubble next season, and then self-preservation mode kicks in for all parties. Or the new guy replacing Fletcher *cough Briere cough* is the same guy.

I still laugh that this organization thinks they can contend next year. The roster stinks. It’s old & expensive to boot.

Today was just another embarrassing chapter for this organization but they’re truly shameless at this point. The unfortunate part is the older contingent in the hockey ops dying off might be the only hope they have.

The Philadelphia Flyers management and executive group is now worse than the Washington Commanders football team management and executives. The Flyers are officially the worst run professional sports franchise in my view. This move reeks of something Bobby Clarke would have done, so yeah, I'm certain he was influential in this deal. This is pathetic. And just wait until the press really starts getting on them and then they'll try to throw Giroux under a bus. You know it's coming.

Im less worried about Fletcher and his replacement than I am about running out the clock a little higher up on the totem pole. As far as I am concerned every asset this team has is worthless until Clarke and his cronies are no longer around (in whatever outcome that entails). So every second of buffer is another second certain events could happen, and every asset that persists past that point may be able to show real value to the team.

In relation to this trade, even if Fletch got Samoskevich or Denisenko, they would have been beaten into a shape that the Flyers wanted, they would have been completely unrecognizable. So what is even the point in trading for them.

They're not worse humans. They are worse at their actual job duties though.

Yep a lot of moves this off-season felt like Clarke and homer are back in charge again and these moves show it! They should have been tossed out years ago

ASF on Snow the Goalie podcast: Giroux was willing to open up to more teams if Fletcher was willing to guarantee that he would bring him back. When that was not promised, Giroux was not willing to open up to more teams. Briere was involved in this somehow.

When is Bob Clarke’s next podcast appearance? Feel like Giroux might be in the crosshairs this time.

"You know, we tried looking elsewhere, but were really restricted by the players NMC. Back in my day I'd have never done something like that because I always put the organizarion first. Nothing comes before the crest, ya know?

I also told Hextall he should have re-signed Giroux years ago. I'm positive we'd have won a cup by now if he had."

Homer did some bone head shit but when he swung for the fences it was for a player that was actually good. He was (guesstimating) 75% able to win trades on top of that.
(This could all be due to a shit memory)

Honestly, the return is such shit that Fletcher should have called G's bluff that he'd only waive to Florida. Forced G's hand, and he'd likely waive to Colorado or elsewhere. At least make G sweat until the actual deadline. But Fletcher is an inept p***y.

Fletcher is likely thrilled by this return and didn't feel forced into anything.

Paging @deadhead, paging @deadhead

Looks like they f***ed with him anyway. Is that good management?

Blah blah, he did good by not guaranteeing that, blah blah.
