It's not a secret that players try to model their games after the top players, and it's really not a stretch to think that the success of Matthews wrister has influenced young players to feel more comfortable choosing to beat goalies with an accurate wrister over the speed of a one-timer.

2nd line has looked great tonight. Canada's bottom 6 is awful though outside of Luchanko.
