What are the new power play lines now, when Orlov is out?

Dunno, possible replacements: Medvedev moved up from the 2nd unit, Belov as the right now highest scoring D-man, Kutuzov is a better puck-mover than many realize.

He is available, Russia has 1 or 2 spots open.

Russian management will try to contact him, answer will probably be know this evening.

Malkin himself said he is tired, and wants to rest.

Thanks, good to know! Hope he answers as soon as possible so he can come as soon as possible! :) Hopefully in shape.

I understand that he is tired, but so is everyone else. I am hopeful that he shows up.

With the rosters in this tournament it's doable. Let's pray Znarok can maintain this motivation level over years, not just a brilliant tournament like the coaches before him.

With Bykov, it was 2 good tournaments, then the team crashes. With Bil, 1 good tournament, followed by abysmal 2 years. There has to be more sustained motivation and excellence.

If Malkin comes he should not be played until 20th May game against Belarus which is the last group game for Russia. Let him rest until then.

So Malkin will come too.. You already have really good team and this..
Source?

EDIT: There is a story in Jatkoaika that Malkin is coming: http://www.jatkoaika.com/Uutiset/ve...edium=nosto&utm_campaign=keskustelu_ros_nosto

But nothing in Russian media so far. Strange.

If he is indeed coming I hope Znarok won't put him with Ovy. Let the current first line stay intact. Russia's offense will be strenghtened a lot with Malkin and Shipachyov will also be back after next game.

Defense is a bit suspect and Orlov was a huge loss. I have been impressed with him. And to think Bill chose Ilya Nikulin to olympics over Orlov...

Pretty easy to judge afterwards and today. You do realise that at the point in time the olympic roster was selected Orlov had close to none NHL experience. Most ppl would have eaten Bill alive for taking an "AHL scrub". Btw stop the baseless Nikulin hate.

I would question "our best defenceman" I've-been-made-a-clown Voynov first.

There is still an option to wait for Voynov. But it seems ridic considering he has a game 7 with an unpredicable outcome tha day after tomorrow. Even if, when would he join the team?

And, thank God, the Habs did it.

I think they will now pursue Malkin and he will agree to come in the end.

Nikulin is too slow for the international game now. Russia better go with younger and more mobile defensemen like Kutuzov and Orlov.

Yes, and Voynov who wasn't mobile enough at the Olympics. What's his excuse?

Voynov was a disappointment considering how well he has played in the NHL. Maybe he has lost some of his mobility in North America. But based on his play here Orlov is certainly a better player than Nikulin is.

Safronov just said that Malkin is coming but the date of his arrival has not been decided.

All respect to the important Russian players who man up for this tourney.

Is it man up, or honest question, are these players punished for saying no whether it's federation, political and are they heavily compensated for playing and securing victory...I mean let's be honest, for the next 2 years at least if Russia doesn't win this tourney it's a shocker as they are the only ones that really sends Olympians to this tourney to which only one or two teams can really contend against.

Yeah, Datsyuk, Tarasenko and Varlamov are now chained to the trees in Siberia and tortured.

Voynov, Markov and Emelin are on there way too.
