I really like the idea of Nadeau and Bloom joining the team together some future year as a pair of large young forwards. Three depth picks with good D+1 seasons so far is great. Recent forwards with similar campaigns are: Baptiste, Compher, Hagel, and Pu.

Wild optimism would have all of Nadeau, Bloom, Kozak turn out, but there's reason to hope for at least one NHL player.

I could see all three of them making a nice line in two years for Rochester with Bloom (LW) , Kozak (C) and Nadeau (RW).

OHL -West-Q making for a nice CHL Line

Also of note, the Sabres currently have 47 out of 50 contract slots occupied.

Which makes UDFA shopping harder.

I think Power and Johnson are mortal locks to sign. I'm 50/50 on Levi and I think Portillo goes back to UMich. Constantini and Huglen join him in the NCAA next year as well.

We'll probably snag a NCAA UDFA or two as well.

Since the junior contracts won't count until next season, I would suspect they float something in front of Bloom, Nadeau, and Kozak as well.

Is Kozak an overager? I knew we used to have a habit of drafting overage guys in the 6th/7th round......

He's late-in-the-year birthday (Dec. 29th). It's sort of like being an over-ager because he didn't hit the "turn 18 by" date for the 2020 draft so he went into 2021 instead.

I think they can sign a player to a PTO and ELC at the same time with the ELC going into effect next season. I think Regier did that a couple times to get UDFA's in Rochester.

Yep, and it wouldn't be a surprise if they are kicking around the B and C tier UDFA's coming out of the NCAA. But the top tier talent who they could use the 1st year contract burn option by having them play in the NHL on an SPC will be harder with fewer (or from here, no) options to do so.

Duff mentioned Peterka played 27 minutes in the third game of 3 games in 3 nights last weekend.

I can't shake this feeling that I want the same for Krebs the rest of the way - playing lots of minutes in Rochester. At center.

I would like Krebs to rein in his penchant form making completely unnecessary high-danger backhand passes anywhere but in the other team's zone. I get that he's creative. He doesn't have to flash backhand sauce dishes when they are just trying to leave the zone.

Sorry but why don’t they count?

Given that Quinn and Peterka can slide, does that potentially open up 2 more slots once they can no longer hit 10 games, or do they count regardless?

It's a signed contract to an active player so I assume it would count.

Also, the Sabres have almost 20 games after the trade deadline so why couldn't they hit 10 games? Am i missing something ?

Would he be better served in Rochester? Krebs with 12:18 tonight.

Peterka playing 27 minutes some nights in Rochester.

I think he goes back for a time when they get Hino and Gus back, if no one else goes out of the lineup. The creativity is there on the PP, often the pursuit of the puck after the Sabres lose possession... but there are things he can work on IMO for a couple of weeks down in Rochester getting more minutes in all situations.

Someone has a PP goal already this morning.

Edit - and now an assist. I feel like I need to bleach my soul.

Edit 2 - and now a 2nd assist... shorthanded.

Edit 3 - Kisakov finishes with 1-2-3 and a roughing penalty. Dynamo wins 3-2 and he's out defending the lead with under a minute left in the game. Nice unselfish play to try to set up his center Nikonov (who had the shorty earlier) for a chance on the empty net but it was not to be.
