Double whammy - Michkov gets a holding the stick penalty and Kisakov scores a goal off a sweet feed from Zaitsev in the slot on the rush a minute into the PP.

Add another from Kisakov - from behind the net, backhands it on goal and it bounces off the base of the net (not even the post), hits the goalie and deflects in. Like... what even am I watching?!?

He has to use up all his puck luck before he comes over some day.

Kisakov back in action on the 2nd of the back-to-back against SKA St. Petersburg/Michkov today in half an hour -

No points through two, was on for Dynamo's second GF (both have been on the PP) but wasn't really involved in the play at all. Michkov has been kind of quiet so far as well.

Kisakov - Five shots on goal, an assist on Dynamo's only goal, a small pile of dangerous plays... kind of the usual for him. They lost 3-1 today.
Haven't got to see him much but seems like a skilled creative player with a lethal release that needs to bulk? What are your personal thoughts and observations of him?

I like that he is creative with the puck and consistently takes himself and the puck to dangerous areas. While small, I wouldn’t say that he has a speed advantage at the tier he’s playing. Quick on the puck but not a burner, he will definitely need to get stronger. He does have allusive characteristics to his game and how he moves through defenders without the puck to make himself available for plays is one of those things that some guys just have. It is a characteristic that I like. But it is also the first time I have ever watched much MHL so trying to figure out if he is even going to be able to find space at the KHL level is above my pay grade.

Most of his MHL games are available on YouTube. He seems to have gotten out of his early slump and has been a bit over a point per game for a few weeks. His PP work is very good - he runs things off the left half wall but he is not a static position to position hub. He regularly is in motion on a short curl from the wall into the middle of the ice so he is attacking toward the net and they do a nice job of setting that up. His usual center (Nikonov) is massive and occupies a lot of net front attention that creates seams in the PK that Kisakov can exploit.

Poltapov is harder to see impacting a game right now as he is playing depth/checking minutes in a much less consistent league (VHL). If you have the time, last week’s games between Michkov’s SKA and Kisakov’s Dynamo were fun hockey.

Edit - he is not JUST a PP guy either. He is good off the rush in creating plays for himself and his linemates. He is also known enough that his rep draws checkers to him which can open space for his linemates.

He is pointy, an aspect I like in a smaller player. He will give people the stick and has a temper (though not Nikonov’s level of just going Hulk SMASH! On guys). He PKs seemingly well and yes he is always looking to get up the ice so he is often the first guy out of the zone.

There is a lot to like. He just isn’t big and I don’t know how he translates up two tiers to the KHL.

Edits for dyslexia!

Thanks! He's #52 on Dynamo (home blues, road whites w/blue letters). Most of the time he's been playing with Nikonov (79, playing the part of Andre the Giant) and Didkovsky (84, also kinda tiny).

And I promise I will spell his center's name right. *Stupid dyslexia*

Crafty goal, going wide around the right side of the net, draws it around the sliding tender and tucks it in while he's already past the goal line. Third goal for Dynamo, his first point of the game.

Didkovsky with the shot, not sure if it goes off Kisakov who is providing the screen or not, but it's 4-1.

Scorer has it as Didkovsky, unassisted. Kisakov is now a 1-goal, +1 for the day (on for two for and one against). They've since added an assist so he's now 1-1-2 going into the third period.

Not sure if this was discussed earlier, but I've been wondering if any of the three late round D-men taken in 2018 -- Cronholm, Kukkonen, or Worge-Kreu, have shown enough to get a conract this summer. Their stats aren't impressive, but info has been hard to find on their development. I was hoping they'd hit on at least one of these guys. Not sure they did.

I'd be surprised if any of them get an NHL deal.

When do draftees usually get offered contracts? Do they just wait until their rights are to expire and decide then or is there a more meaningful process based on where they are drafted?

Depends on the prospect and how many contract slots a team has. If a prospect shows growth and NHL potential after their first year they likely get offered so I wouldn't be shocked if Bloom or Nadeau were offered a contract especially since Kisakov and Poltapov are under KHL contracts
