Finally started Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, the newest game from Mimimi Games who made Desperados 3 and Shadow Tactics and I'm already loving it. There are so many different types of characters and abilities. Desperados 3 had some nice QoL improvements over Shadow Tactics but the abilities felt very similar. This one has some new abilities and all the character have some fun quirks to them built into the abilities. You can also pick which characters you want to raise from the dead instead of being forced down a linear route and unlocking characters based on story. It makes the beginning feel much more refreshing.

Also grabbed Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series since I remember really enjoying the demo for Klonoa as a kid on PlayStation but never getting to play the full game. It's a pretty fun trip down memory lane.

Still playing my seasonal Rogue in Diablo 4. Currently lvl 73 on Torment. Finally beat uber Lilith last night.

Im basically stuck in the end-game loop that keeps me addicted to Destiny. Rerunning the most productive activities to try and get the god-rolls to maximize my poison twisting blades build.

It’s not the most ‘fun’ Ive ever had, but that dopamine hit when you get a perfect roll of an ancestral legendary remains potent.

Im also playing Destiny 2 for Raid and Trials gear each week, but my momentum on that game hit a wall after Lightfall.

Went through training mode in Mortal Kombat 1, played around with a bunch of characters. Pretty certain Im a Reptile main.

I thought the campaign in Lightfall was pretty bad. It just kinda dampened my excitement to explore and interact with this new area and activities Bungie had made.

I also didnt think there were many seasonal weapons worth farming the last two seasons. This season has some better ones I might go for, but that ‘pull’ to jump on every reset just kinda went away.

I still Raid and play Trials for the armor (transmog) and some of the better weapons.

This season is better. I haven't played in three seasons and the story and seasonal stuff is fun.

Swapping between Starfield, Divinity Original Sin II, and FFXVI. Loving all three but finding myself more addicted to Divinity. Hope to be able to get to Baldurs Gate III by the end of the year as well as Phantom Liberty …..as well as Spider-Man 2. I really don’t have time for this many good games!

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and BG3. Two absolutely brilliant games. Never thought I would say this about cyberpunk after that launch. I dropped the game and I'm glad I did as it's a completely different experience.

There's something about Divinity that is so damn addicting. I don't know what it is about well made isometric turn based RPGs like that but I literally can't put them down. I had the same feeling with the Wasteland games.

I'm also hoping to be able to get to Baldur's Gate 3 by the end of the year. It's one of those games that I want to wait until I have a lot of free time to start playing it because I'm sure I'm not going to want to put it down.

Fired up Satisfactory for the first tine. It’s still not out of early access—the 1.0 release is finally expected sometime in the spring of 2024 after a half dozen years in development.

Amazingly impressive OCD alien planet factory game.

I've had my eye on it for a few years, waiting for it to leave early access. I hope that it's somewhat like Infinifactory, which is one of my favorite puzzle games of the last 10 years, but it seems like it's more like a first-person Factorio.

Definitely more like Factorio than Infinifactory, but the 3D element makes Satisfactory very different from Factorio. The logistics of collecting resources and planning out your factories requires 3D solutions even in what could nominally be a 2D floor plan. And often you want to go heavy vertical 3D in your factories.

Was also planning to wait until the full 1.0 release before playing. Reading recently on the state of game, the final 1.0 release will include a new exponential tier of challenges not in the current early access version. Decided to give the current early access version a try, then play again when 1.0 released.

Have logged 100 hours in the game and nowhere near close to finishing, need another 100+ hours at minimum, probably 2x-4x that time. Can’t imagine how much additional time the 1.0 release will add.

Re-playing the Starcraft 2 Campaign and playing a bit of Heroes of the Storm. I was rank 1 in pre-season and season 1, which I guess would be like master/grandmaster in other games or the current version.

I basically haven't gamed at all since I got married in 2015, so it's nice to have this little break to decompress on some favourites. Anyone else still play HotS? I know they basically stopped supporting it but it seems like after the Microsoft acquisition it may get support again, there's been a few patches in the past few weeks after a year of silence.

just finished Zelda after 5 months and 220 hours. Next new games I want to play are Spiderman2 and Super Mario Bros Wonder which both come out on 10/20.

In the meantime I hit up Gamepass and started on Dead Cells and Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga over the weekend. Both great games.

Forza comes out tomorrow so gonna do that as well. Between the 3 of them it should keep me busy well into November.

Currently playing Homefront: The Revolution.

I'd say it's a AA semi-open world FPS set in the near future. Reminds me of a mix of Far Cry/Deus Ex: Mankind Divided/Wolfenstein: The New Colossus.

Control, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Mafia 3 are next.

How is Homefront: Revolution? I remember it got hammered in reviews when it came out but have heard it's pretty fun for what it is years later. I got it for really cheap a while ago but still never played it. Truth be told, I was more interested in playing Timesplitters 2 in it than Homefront lol.

Started Sea of Stars. Liking it now that I'm a few hours in. I found the start to be a little slow, game is picking up now at hour 4.

Trying to get the hang o NHL 24. It's a shit-show of a game so far. The pressure system is predictably broken af, menus crash randomly, inviting players to your game was made much more cumbersome, and the skill floor has dropped significantly. They made some of the most intricate dekes possible with a single button.

Though there are some aspects of the gameplay I like so far, it's mostly just another shit show game by the king of shit shows that is EA.

I think it's more challenging than other shooters and puzzles are sometimes hard to solve. In some missions, you can't jump straight to the checkpoint because it will bug the progression (as I said AA game). No skill tree but you can purchase equipment that will make you run faster, reload faster, heal yourself faster, etc. You can upgrade your weapons and add weapon variants. Like you pistol can transforms to a SMG or the shotgun transforms to a firethrower. Same for throwables. You can recruit NPC (and they effectively kill enemies) and hack drones on the fly to help you along the way. You can stealth (not my playing style) and I find it challenging.

It's really decent for the challenge, the vibe and story. Easily worth the $3.99 I paid haha! You should give it a try!

I might add Terminator: Resistance for the AA game aspect.

no joke (or cap as the young kids would say), I've been boycotting EA games since around 2002. That was when Madden was being challenged by NFL2K and at one point NFL2K started getting better reviews than Madden. So how did EA respond? Did they take that as a challenge to make their game better? No, they went out and bought the exclusive license to NFL and drove 2k out of business so they could continue to produce their mediocre game without competition.

Said FU to EA and haven't played a single one of their games since.

Yeah it's really frustrating. Unfortunately, I just really love to play hockey video games and the group of friends I've made over the years.
