That might be one of the ugliest logos I've ever seen.
...yup, she's pretty...baby blue for an Outlaw...

Still want ThunderbirdsHonestly all 3 are good options. I think Utah Wasatch is similar to the Seattle Rainiers, which is a cool name as well.
I think things like Skinwalker (and Wendigo for northern teams) are basically a bit taboo to use as team names because they are important to the traditions of tribes in those areas. I still think they'd be cool names but sadly probably not viable for a team name. With that said, there are plenty of stories about Skinwalker Ranch with aliens that you could end up with something like the Utah Visitors.View attachment 970916
If they're still want to go cryptids, but Wasatch is out, why not The Skinwalkers. I could see the uniforms now.
Or howbout The Flats?
They could have sued Teddy Roosevelt. The Rough Riders were founded in 1876, The (Sask) Roughriders in 1910, so there's a chance copyright/trademark laws weren't what they are now when the Saskatchewan team was founded.
do Mormons mix with the notion of Jazz? Seem to be doing well with it after all these years.Hmm, do you feel non-Mormons somehow 'mix' with the notion of 'Outlaws'?
I'm sure Mormons are smart enough to realize that the hockey players playing for their local team are not in fact 'Outlaws' and will not be promoting lawless behavior.
The name is absolutely fine as long as you don't read too much into it (which you are doing)
And managed to fit in the abortive Rocky Mountain Xtreme concept too.Agreed, the Avalanche had less time than Utah did and were able to change their name.
It’s funny that of the three teams there, their hockey team will be the only named after anything to do with local culture.do Mormons mix with the notion of Jazz? Seem to be doing well with it after all these years.
How does Outlaws or Mammoth feel "forced"If we don’t mind there being the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Kings, there’s zero reason we shouldn’t have the Utah Raptors. It’s the only one that has made sense since the start and doesn’t feel forced.
Better? Yeti was terrible, I'm glad it's out...they're really running on empty for names though.I kind of like Hockey Club. It's funny and they already eliminated the better options like Yeti.
They can go full Euro football and use HC, then they can have the Yeti corp pay them a sponsorship fee and have “Yeti” on their jerseysI kind of like Hockey Club. It's funny and they already eliminated the better options like Yeti.

Could have badass pregame intro song as they take the ice.I’ll say it again -

You think they will want to take those titles away from the bigger market areas like the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers & Philadelphia Flyers who creating all that fuzz on their own?I feel like the league should step in and punish the Utah ownership for all this name drama by forcing them to temporarily adopt the name 'Utah Drama Queens' for the '25-'26 NHL season.
I don't even understand how Hockey Club is on the table.
Stumbling unknowingly into sentences like "alright, we've got a road trip coming up where we play the Avs, the Wild, the... Hockey Club, and the Predators" has been the absolute worst part of this current season in my opinion.
Still don't think it was acceptable to just twiddle their thumbs all year last year and not pick a damn name.
One of the best known outaws of the Wild West was Butch Cassidy who was from Utah and was a Mormon. I believe several of his gang were also Mormons. And there were others too. There's also the Outlaw Trail which ran from Montana to Mexico -- right through Utah -- which was basically a trail of places where outlaws could change horses and resupply.Hmm, do you feel non-Mormons somehow 'mix' with the notion of 'Outlaws'?

You mean the way that Rangers is shortend to Rains, Flyers to Flies, and Panthers to Pans?Hockey Club is a stupid nickname, Mammoths will end up being shortened all the time to Mams... which is also stupid.
Therefore Outlaws wins by default.
