Asylum and City are both top tier, with Asylum being my favorite. Honestly, Knight is fantastic as well outside of the batmobile parts. There’s a lot of stuff to do in that world. I heard they’re giving it a next gen update soon.

I started playing Tunic and it’s delightful. Trek to Yoni is beautiful to look at but combat is boring so probably won’t stick with it.

I got Nier Replicant during the Square Enix sale on Steam 2 weeks ago and I don't know, it's just OK. There's A LOT of running around. I'm like 75% of the way through the game because I heard the second half was a lot better than the first but I don't really see it. I'll just finish it at this point but it's not nearly as good as Automata is.

Agreed. While it’s visually stunning in places the running around made me stop playing it.

Lol, I swear every indie game has this thing now. It makes me realize the indie games have basically become just as formulaic as any AAA game. Im sure there's some consultant charging thousands of dollars an hour to design these dumb things.

And dont get me wrong I like slay the spire but do something different at least.

Rogue Legacy 2.

I'm absolutely loving it. It just feels so tight. Very addictive rogue-lite.

Disco Elysium.

I'm honestly having a tough time getting into it. I understand that "it's a detective story, dummy, you don't know anything!" it's incredibly slow to get going. About 11 hours into it, on day 2.

I do like the internal thought monologues, but I'm torn between pushing through, being stubborn, or maybe just honestly not liking it.

I tried getting into it too and gave up at the 5 hour mark. I got to the point where I even talked to everyone I could find and couldn't proceed so I just uninstalled it and realized the game wasn't for me.

After playing through DOOM and DOOM II again last month, I decided to keep it going with Heretic, since it had been much longer since I played that. I had forgotten how good it is and a lot about it, in general. It's more than just DOOM II with a new skin. There's now an inventory (so that you can save powerups and health for later), all kinds of new powerups (like one that lets you fly and another that turns enemies into chickens) and maps are bigger and more dynamic. This is also my first time playing it in GZDoom with HD resolution, mouselook on and autoaim off, which is a treat. I'm about halfway through the 4th of 5 episodes. Next up, I'll re-visit Hexen: Beyond Heretic. Forget modern 1st-person shooters. I could just play these 90s ones over and over, instead.

I will say that Disco Elysium is improving for me, but it will never be an 'exciting game' at the same time.

It's slow, plodding, at times confusing, but oddly the parts of discovery about the main character, his background, the parallel reconstruction of the murdered subject's past is still compelling.

I will still knock it though, as it is a very, very, very slow start. So slow, that it doesn't get better until ~12-15 hours. That's a big ask IMO, some games I've beaten by that point.

For me, it will open up slightly in bursts, and then quiet down for stretches. I think I'm having to retrain my brain, in that it's a point and click adventure, and after years of dieting on action RPG's the change of pace is super jarring.

Evil Dead: The Game: It's a Dead by Daylight type of game (4 survivors vs 1 killer). It's more interactive and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Final Fantasy 14: Wanting to finally get all of the classes to max level as well as the crafting and gathering ones.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Pretty good so far. I'm level 37 currently, Torque is by far my favorite character so far

Also, has anyone played Greedfall by chance? I've had it for a while from it being a free pickup on PS+ and I was thinking of giving it a fair shot.

I played Yakuza: Like a Dragon last year and really enjoyed it, so going to move onto the other games on Gamepass. They only have 3-6 and I haven’t read good things about 3, so was going to start at 4. Watched some YT videos to catch me up.

I started with Like a Dragon and loved it so I went to try the other ones (I believe I played 0 and both Kwamis) knowing that they are more action brawlers but I found those fight scenes to be incredibly slow, awkward, disjointed...like, I get they're from years ago but they haven't aged well, at all. The two games in the Judgment series are both excellent and are worthy alternatives IMO, the first one still involves the yakuza and the second less so but everything about them both is top notch.

Been meaning to try this one out as well. I have heard it's repetitive at times but still solid. Have you started it yet? If so what are your thoughts?

I have, and so far it is solid. It feels like a poor man's Witcher to me, but others could feel differently. Apparently it's deemed as a "Double AA" game. Anyways, from the bit that I have played so far I'm starting to really enjoy it. You gain/lose faction reputation depending on the quests you do and what sides you take. I did some research on some builds (You can go melee, or a "Technical" build that is ranged pistol/rifle with traps/potions and a caster build) and it seems like you can come up with some good combo builds that make combat really enjoyable. Right now I'm going for a hybrid Mage/Tech build where I can do regular attacks with magic and then lay down traps in my area to protect myself. I heard that a Greedfall II was in the works a few days ago as well, so interesting timing

I started playing Vaporum last week and really enjoying it. It's a grid based dungeon crawler with modern graphics, very similar to Legend of Grimrock. I am having an absolute blast playing this game. I feel like there aren't many modern games with this style game play but it's always so much fun to play through.

V Rising

Absolutely fantastic so far. I was wary of Early Access, but it's easily worth the asking price already.

Top down, Valheim meets (really well done) ARPG combat.

Full recommend from me, and I'm not even really a big fan of vampires.

Spyro the Dragon - playing the remaster on the PS4, fun little game, my 5 y/o is "helping" me play by being the spotter for the dragons that need to be freed

Elden Ring - Not very far along, maybe 6-7 hours, was not a souls fan but curiosity got the better of me and I picked it up, the lack of direction takes some getting used to
