Games you are currently playing - Part 7

As I said earlier, I’ve finally started Baldur’s Gate III on PS5. I’m kicking myself for not playing this upon release, as I would have loved to have been able to discuss my progress as everyone else was playing. I’m only 20 hours in and I can’t get over how fun this game is. I could see this jumping to a very high spot on my all time list when it’s all said and done, I’m loving every minute of my play through
A top 3 game for me. The writing is incredible. Enjoy it.

Yeah I've had Wartales on my Steam wish list seemingly forever and am highly interested in it, just not sure if it will ever climb its way to the top of the backlog. Battle Brothers is another one that looks similar, albeit with lower production values. For a JRPG version, I have played Our Adventure Guild which is quite good. Cheapest of the bunch at $20 and had a demo which is why I bought it over the others. Some obvious flaws in production value, but considering its made by 1 guy that's understandable, but the game design and game play loop is solid.
I ended up getting it and playing a bit. I did the region locked mode (enemies are based on region / location instead of your squad level / size). This is the easier mode but I like the feeling of progression.

It's a little redundant, but I am really enjoying it. There is a ton to do and very little hand holding so, if you do get it, don't be afraid to google how different mechanics work. There is a story but I haven't really been paying attention, it really is just a team of mercenaries running around.

I'm still early and in the first region though so maybe the story becomes more of a focus later on. With no DLC, there are 5 IIRC. You can move back and forth between them, just each region has different enemy level / ranges and unique resources.

I've been playing this with a couple of friends lately in both a 2 and 3 player game.

Started the Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door remake on the switch, just barely into it, but so far so good, never played any of the non mainline SM games when they first came out, so this is a brand new 20 yr old experience for me
