Got back into the Arkham games on a whim.

When I first played through these games I played them all out of order so I'm going to be playing them chronologically based on the overriding storyline. I'll probably skip on the auxiliary titles like Origins: BlackGate and Arkham: VR. Super fun games, combat gets a little repetitive, but traveling around the city, and predator encounters are a great time.

I'm playing through the 1993 DOOM for the umpteenth time, but this time with ray tracing!

It's purdy with ray tracing. The atmosphere is spoiled in some places by being brighter than intended, but other places are darker and creepier, so it balances out. It's not a very authentic way to play the game, but it's cool, especially if you've played the game countless times already. If you're on PC and have an RTX card, see my post in the PC thread for the link to download it.

This game doesn't get old for me. It's as fun to play in 2022 as it was in 1993. The funny thing is that I still haven't played the 2016 DOOM or DOOM Eternal, yet I'm replaying the original game for the hundredth time. Maybe this is why my gaming backlog is so long.

A few years ago at a flea market I bought a SNES controller to use with those ROMs. This week I finally put it to work, with the Chrono Cross remaster giving me the urge to replay its predecessor, Chrono Trigger.

I have to say, I think my hands have been babied by modern controllers. The d-pad on this thing is quite uncomfortable in comparison. Still enjoying the experience tho!

Actually, I finished the main game last night but still have the Thy Flesh Consumed expansion episode left.

This game doesn't get old for me. It's as fun to play in 2022 as it was in 1993. It does seem to be getting easier, though. I especially remember needing many attempts in the past to beat the bosses, but, this time, I dummied them all on the first try without even taking much damage on Ultra-Violence difficulty. It's weird because it seems like I get worse at games as I get older, except for this game, which I seem to be getting better at. I guess that it's just my jam and I've played it so much over the last 29 years that I've learned its secrets, like which weapons work best on which monsters.

I really need to play the raytraced version of Doom, it looks so much better which is crazy since there's really no other graphics updates. Lighting makes such a huge difference that I didn't realize until playing Metro Exodus with raytracing for the first time.

I still need to play the new Metro Exodus. In fact, it's funny that the only ray traced games that I've played since getting my RTX card in November are modified versions of older games like Doom, Quake II and Minecraft. Then again, ray tracing seems to have the most noticeable effect in those games. Apparently, the simpler and more primitive the engine, the greater the difference adding ray tracing seems to have. With a lot of newer games, the difference isn't as striking or even very noticeable at all. Of course, those are games that weren't designed for ray tracing. I'm aware that Metro Exodus was redesigned for it and it's noticeable.

Metro Exodus is still the nicest looking game I've played and it ran well considering the tech and graphics. I'm on a 2080Ti at 1440p and everything maxed and I was still around 50-60 FPS the whole time with everything maxed.

Here's a screenshot I took of gameplay. It looks like promotional shots you see on preview articles that always get doctored. I was blown away that that's just what gameplay looked like and it ran well too.

Humour wacky and quirky as in BL2 or forced and punbased like in BL3?
Did you play the Assault on Dragon Keep DLC? It was basically that, but just so much more of it! I haven't played BL3 yet, I'm working my way through the pre-sequel and 2, will probably start 3 in a few months. So many games going on right now!

Weird West is incredible. I think it’s on everything but playing through Game pass while taking a bit of a break from Elden Ring.
I'm really liking this a lot too. I'm surprised the Steam number of players is so low, but maybe a lot of people are using Game Pass (like us).

Curious how this is going?

I very much enjoyed the trilogy but I think the combat got very repetitive by the end of each title. I can only imagine what that would be like back-to-back....
