Curious how this is going?

I very much enjoyed the trilogy but I think the combat got very repetitive by the end of each title. I can only imagine what that would be like back-to-back....
I agree I'm even tired of Spiderman Now

Resident Evil 3 Remake

Incredibly good. about 4:45 minutes of in game time and 7 hours of playtime. Cant wait to see what the next gen version of these games look like.

Going pretty well so far, I'm getting toward the end of Arkham Origins right now. Yes, I think the combat will start to get pretty repetitive, particularly near the 3rd game or so. but I'm trying to take it slow.

Coincidentally I had just finished watching the movie 'The Batman' when I saw your question last night, which also sees Bruce Wayne when he's 2 years into his 'career' as Batman.

Man playing resident evil 2 after playing resident evil 3 is like going back to the dark ages. The sequel is just so much better, even the graphics are miles better.

The remakes or the originals?

RE2 Remake is significantly better than the RE3 Remake. I also think the original RE2 is better than RE3, but I know a lot of people loved RE3. I liked the slower suspense building of the original RE and RE2 more than RE3, but I haven't played the third since I was a kid.

I'm really disappointed they are remaking RE4 before doing a proper remake of Code Veronica.

The remakes. 3 is waaay better imo.

Oh, I think you're in the minority there. The playtime was lower and I don't think it was as true to the original. RE2 has a lot more replay ability for me. I enjoyed them both though.
Looking at metacritic thats definitely true, but for me I dont like OG Resident Evil games that much, so thats probably why I like RE3 so much. Like for RE1 I just flat went in blind, killed too many zombies and had red zombies crawling over the mansion basically soft locking me. For RE2 I just hated Mr X chasing you around, making you run away and potentially run into a licker. I prefer the linearness of RE3, and it actually has good boss fights, so I just stuck with it.

Oh, those are all the things I loved about RE2.

The original RE didn't have the crimson heads you're talking about though, that was introduced in one of the remasters (can't remember which one), along with the defensive mechanic. There were a few additions to the story as well. I think they added the crimson heads so there was something new for players who loved the original, adding a level of difficulty to the game. Traditionally speaking, if you treat RE games like other zombie games where you shoot everything in sight, you're going to have a bad time (if you're not on the lower difficulties).

I thought Mr. X was awesome in RE2, so menacing and created a real level of fear when playing. Nemesis was a little too scripted for my liking but if you like boss fights I can totally see the appeal.

Are you going to play the remake of RE4 when it comes out?

I loved the RE2 remake but hated Mr. X. I just find it annoying when I'm trying to run around solving puzzles and keep getting interrupted, then have to do a big song and dance running around the whole station before you lose him and continue. It is scary at times and I get why some people like it, just not my thing.

I rank the remakes REmake > RE2 > RE3 but they're all great games. REmake is close to a perfect game imo.

I'm with @PK Cronin in wanting a Code Veronica remake though. For one thing, RE4 still holds up pretty damn well and doesn't really need a remake in the same way the older games did. And CV is a hidden gem held back by a couple big easily fixable issues, it would benefit so much from a remake. Best save room music in Resident Evil history as well, which is a super competitive category.

I think Mr. X is great for the first playthroughs in each scenario because it really ups the pressure, but in subsequent playthroughs is more of a chore since you (should) know how to avoid him and he's not really a problem anymore.

Agreed that Veronica should get the remake treatment. Currently playing Cyberpunk ps5 and I think it's great but there are enough odd design choices here or there that I don't understand or agree with but I'm having fun with it. Got Actraiser Renaissance since it's finally on sale, haven't tried it yet and I'm eager to since I never played the SNES original for whatever reason.

I had the same problem with Mr X. I didn't find him scary or tense, I just thought he was annoying. You go into a room to solve a puzzle, hear him coming so have to make a lap around the place just to lose him and then go back.

I probably will play the remake but I recently bought RE4 on Steam and that HD texture pack looks real good. I'm probably gonna play the original first with that mod.

My problem is that its basically a forced reload because lickers are running rampant in the mansion at that point in the game. So you have to plan your escape from Mr. X and save scum at times. I dont want to hate on it too much because I realize im a Resident Evil casual and the diehards loved it but I agree I personally did not like it. I need to know do lickers re-spawn? If they don't I probably will pick up the game again and just go on a licker killing spree.

Not games but demos for games that are not even in early access, so I dont want to judge too harshly:

Sannabi: The Revenant

Amazing pixel art graphics in the style of Katana Zero. The problem is the game is just a bunch of obstacle courses. They blew the budget on the cutscenes.

Hollow 2

This developer remade house of the dead 1 and 2 as well as the original panzer dragoon. Apparently both of those were pretty bad, I can't imagine it being worse than this one. This feels like an actual scam asset flip game. Hopefully it never comes out.

Edit: Lol, no way. Apparently this game is actually finished and released on switch.

You Will Not Remain

So I lied this one is an actual finished game but its only 30 minutes. I have to be honest my opinion is kind of tainted by the land acknowledgement AND trigger warning at the beginning of the game. I immediately expected something insanely pretentious. I admit I actually liked this though. The only thing was the trigger warning was really vague, it turns out the trigger warning was for....covid quarantine. So yeah it was kind of pretentious.

Zombies will climb in through windows that aren't boarded up to re-populate certain areas within the police station but there is no way for lickers to re-spawn. There are different opinions about which areas to board up because some rooms/hallways take more boards than others and if you can't board them up all the way some people don't find it as helpful. Also, different playthroughs go through different areas more frequently. Generally speaking though once you clear an area it stays empty unless an event triggers a re-population of that area, but, there's a finite amount of times and places that will occur.

Finished up Origins and moving into Asylum, which is my favorite I think. Fun story with fun villains and the Asylum is a cool setting.
