Was 3D land only on the 3DS, or did a version ever land on a console? I've never had any of the hand helds other than the Switch, which I always just play on a tv anyways, so unfortunately I have missed a few gems
Only on 3ds but they really need to port it to switch and remaster.

I don't normally replay games but I just finished Severed Steel and it ends too quickly. I definitely plan on beating the New Game+ and will probably go for all the achievements. The game play is definitely some of the most fun I've had in a shooter. I remember watching a streamer play it when it came out and it looked like fun so I kept it on my radar. I ended up picking up in a bundle on Fanatical with a few others games I didn't even have interest in for $7 and I am so happy with the purchase. One of the best indie games of last year for sure IMO.

I got the Humble Bundle Choice pretty much just for Phoenix Point for $8. There's a couple other games I'll likely play too (mostly just Pumpkin Jack and I am Fish) but I bought it primarily for Phoenix Point. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for, more XCOM! I only got the first few tutorial missions done. I'm not liking some of the design choices more for QoL reasons. Primarily they don't show you percentages for what you're going to hit, they show a red/white bar and the more white it is, the more likely you are to hit which just seems dumb.

Also they have magazines and you have to be careful reloading so you don't lose your ammo. I feel like it's just one more thing to micromanage. Aside from that, it's pretty annoying that once you reload, you lose your old magazine. Why make you watch your ammo and be cautious of reloading when they don't let you save your old mag, causing you to run out of ammo sooner? It just seems lazy. It's like they want you to be mindful of when you reload so you don't waste your ammo but were too lazy to program it that you just lose your magazine regardless of how much ammo is in it once you do.

When does God of War (2018) start getting good? So far the combat is awkward and boring, the menus are incomprehensible (and laden with the same loot and crafting bullshit you get in all first party PS4 games) and I've just reached the part where the Witch of the Woods tells me how to travel from one Realm to another Realm using the Light of Alfheim to Charge the Bifrost to make the Realms align but you can only travel from one Realm to another Realm when the Realms are aligned and when you use the Bifrost and

Am I old? Is this it? Is this the point when video games stopped being for me? I feel like that Jerry Seinfeld gif where he dusts his hands off and walks out of the theatre.

I got Chivalry 2 now that it's finally on Steam. Only played for about an hour but had an absolute blast. I wanted to like Mordhau but it's so hardcore you need to play for hundreds of hours in order to enjoy the game. Chivalry 2 is easy to pick up and enjoy. When I first tried Mordhau a few months ago, it made me instantly want to play Chivalry again. I'm glad I ended up picking this one up, I can definitely see myself putting a good amount of hours into it.

I had the exact same problem. I kept with it because I heard how great it was but it was just so painstakingly average. If you're not enjoying it, do yourself a favor and just stop. I wish I did...

I did find the combat a bit more enjoyable when you get the dual daggers but that's like the half way point of the game and I didn't think it became good enough to be worth forcing yourself through it.

It doesn't get better imo. I really prefer the old games, they are just so much more unique and fun in gameplay.

I just started AC Origins in game pass. Played for 3 hours, but I am exhausted by the AC formula. I have to say, I finished AC Odyssey and AC Valhalla including the season passes in the last 24 months, so I played a lot of it. And while it looks georgeous, I am bored already.

I'll download Ninja Gaiden Sigma today and might try out the Fable franchise. Looks interesting.

I'm going to keep trying. At least I'll be able to hate it in the review if nothing else.

If I go back and try any of the original games again before I'm finished I know it just won't compare to them. Even though it's been a while I think I'm stuck on the old combat style where I'm smashing buttons trying to hit everything at once.

I had the same frustrations as you and also wondered if I was just becoming too old for that sh*t. It was like doing homework.

I totally get being burned out on the AC formula, but Origins is the best of the three, IMO. Not nearly as much bloat as the other two and Bayak is the best main character.

I feel the same way about Far Cry 6. The Ubisoft formula is starting to feel like a chore.

I was wondering why Tiny Tina assault on Dragon Keep looked like it was a PS3 game. It was originally Borderlands 2 DLC re-released as a standalone game. I'm impressed because it really does feel like it's own small epilogue game to Borderlands 2. Impressive DLC.

I'm going on vacation soon and didn't want to jump into a new game, so I've just been messing around with NBA 2K22.

Hitting a wide open jump shot is the hardest thing I've ever done in a video game.

I'm currently playing Teardown, which is a PC-only physics-based sandbox game in which you play a demolition expert rampaging through fully destructible environments. It has a retro, "voxel" look and is like playing in a LEGO land that you can smash and blow up. You start out with a sledgehammer and progressively get more "tools," such as a shotgun (my favorite; I highly recommend upgrading it all of the way once you get it), bombs and even a rocket launcher. Each mission has you stealing or destroying a number of things across a map in any order and in any way that you choose. There's some puzzle solving involved because you often have to plan out how you're going to do it. For example, a lot of missions task you with stealing half a dozen things, but as soon you steal one, an alarm goes off and you have only 60 seconds to steal the rest and escape, so you have to scout them out, carefully plan your route and knock down or blow up stuff that's in your way ahead of time. It's sort of like a stealth game except that you can make almost as much noise (and cause as much destruction) as you like because there's no one around. It's pretty good and not really like anything that I've played before. It definitely satisfies my destructive urge and also scratches my puzzle solving itch a little.

I remember trying Teardown when it first came out. Is the performance any good? I had to refund it because the frame rate was terrible.

I got the Humble Monthly bundle and ended up hating Phoenix Point after a couple hours. My main complaints are limited ammo and you have to bring the appropriate amount of magazines to an encounter, it's a total guessing game. Furthermore, if you reload while you still have ammo in your mag, you just lose that ammo. For a game that has limited ammo like this, you should save the ammo you still have while reloading, not lose it. There's no fog of war so you can't tell how far your characters can see which can really mess up how you use your action points in a turn. And last, albeit minor, the game completely locks you into every animation. Sure, it may only take a couple seconds to watch someone run to their destination but being locked into it over and over and over starts to get old fast.

Performance is decent on my RTX 3070. I get 45-75fps on High settings. That's about par for the course for a ray traced title. It's not really a fast-paced game, so even when it dips below 60fps, it's still quite bearable.

What almost made me stop playing was the input lag, but I discovered recently that setting the game to "Borderless window" instead of "Fullscreen" goes a long way to helping with that. Apparently, this game's "Fullscreen" mode forces your monitor to 60Hz. Yuck. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, definitely set the game to "Borderless window." I usually do that in games at the start, but I apparently overlooked it in this one.

It may have improved. I got it the day it was first released in early access. I feel like the game is more about CPU than GPU though with all the physic involved. I'll have to give it another go whenever I catch it on sale. I wouldn't be surprised if it got better.

Whenever I've watched recent gameplay, some insane shit happens in the creative mode and can still function, but you have to really f***ing try to get it to chug.

Also, in general, fire is the biggest killer for that game's performance.

From reading a little, it sounds like the devs did improve performance while it was still in Early Access. I wouldn't say that it has a framerate problem today if you have a modern GPU and CPU. The ray tracing definitely works the GPU because I sometimes get only 45fps just looking at a static scene. My Ryzen 5600X seems perfectly fine at handling the physics. In fact, CPU usage gets up to only 15% when things are exploding and crumbling.

Also, in general, fire is the biggest killer for that game's performance.

Oh, yeah, now that you mention it, I did have a big fire once and my framerate tanked into the 20s. That hasn't happened again, though, because I've gotten into the habit of putting out every fire before that can happen. In fact, you practically have to put out fires because letting one get out of control sets off the fire alarm and you pretty much have to restart the mission. So, I wouldn't worry about fire killing the framerate if you're going to play the campaign or are just diligent in putting it out.

I'm halfway finished of my chronological playthrough of Arkham Series, but I need a break, as the games get incredibly repetitive, especially combat.

Funny as it may sound, I've actually gravitated toward Lawn Mowing Simulator.

I've been doing 1 or 2 lawns before bed and it's actually really relaxing, almost meditative at times. I've been pretty stressed out with some things lately, so this is a good way to keep my mind focused on something else and wind down.
