In Witcher 3, ignore all the question marks on the map and follow the quests (main and side), you'll get burned out otherwise.
Ghost wasn't the first open world game I've played, but it's the one that taught me this lesson for good. Even for a game that I really liked like Ghost, it's too much. I don't get it, but there's clearly a market for it, so who am I to judge?

Ghost has great combat, Witcher 3 didn't when it came out and it's just a slow junky slog IMO but the characters, quests, etc. make up for it most of the time but getting burned out on the fighting happens quick (like 45 to 60 minutes at a time for me then I need to play something else)

Tried Sifu and tapped out before i could get to the end of the first level.

Sometimes it's hard to tell when journalists whine about a game being "hard" because you can't tell if they just have no skill or if the game is legitimately hard. They complained about Returnal being too much but i didn't find too many issues with that game and beat it within like 15 hours with 20 deaths total. In this case, it's definitely the latter.

It's basically a fighting game disguised as your run of the mill single player game. High/low mixups, high/low blocking and dodging, combos, etc. I've never been big into fighters since i don't have the time nor patience to get to a level where i'm not just beating on people without thumbs. Super well made game but man it's just not for me.

I just mean with how many map markers there are. I started doing everything I came across and was getting bored as f***. Once I just focused on the main story and the bigger side quests, it was great. Not saying Ghost is the worst with the amount of stuff or anything, but if I feel like that for a game that I liked as much as I did with Ghost, I'm not going to like it in any game.

Witcher 3 has good combat, but you need to approach it different. It looks like flashy hack and slash combat but you need to approach it much more slow and methodical and take advantage of the rpg mechanics.

Just started up Lost Ark. I’ve never really stuck with an MMO but I’m having a LOT of fun so far. Hoping to stick with it for a while.
i've noticed increased twitch activity for this game; it being free also helps

will try it now

I've been trying a few games lately and can't seem to quite find one I'm interested in at the moment, shame... I tried the following over the weekend:

Warstone TD - A decent tower defense game but then they just throw random game modes where you have to play offense and defense at the same time that feel so tedious. I actually stopped playing solely because of those levels that stop your progress until you beat them, I can't be bothered.

Endzone - A World Apart - I was interested in a city builder but this one is way too micro-manage-y for my taste. I'm not a fan of the micro managing side of strategy games so I stopped after about an hour.

Mordhau - I gave up after a couple hours. I loved Chivalry because it felt kind of casual and was just fun to hop in and out of. This one is way too hardcore where I feel like I'll have to play hundreds of hours to compete with the other regulars in the game. I was probably only expecting to play for 10-20 hours before putting it down anyway. I decided to just put it down sooner since I know I'm not going to get good enough at the game before I get bored of it.

Radical Relocation - I actually came back to this one because it looks like it came out of early access a while ago. The second half of the game (which wasn't available during early access) is significantly more buggy than the first half during early access. It was a fairly buggy game to begin with and is one of those funny games you don't care about bad physics in but it actually becomes unplayable at points. Literally unplayable too... There's helicopter stages where sometimes your helicopter spawns half underground so you literally can't go anywhere...

Struggling - This game is actually sticking for me. I'm playing co-op with a friend of mine. It's a Kronenberg world where you're some kind of dual head abomination with two arms. You can play it single player or co op but I'm all in on co op. You have to grab and swing your way through the stages. It's actually really funny in a twisted sort of way, there's some great humor in the game and the boss battles have all been a lot of fun. I do plan on beating this one, I'm a bit more than half way through. Definitely an enjoyable little title.

Not sure what I'm going to play for my next single player game though. Seems like I've been giving up after an hour or two on a lot of these choices I thought I'd enjoy lol.

Just beat Midir in the Dark Souls 3 Ringed City DLC. What an excellent fight wow. From the rumors I was expecting even harder, but it was very manageable in the end. I just stopped right in front of Filianore holding a sort of broken egg. It looks like the end is near... Man what a journey this game has been.

I can't put Hollow Knight down. After I've been playing for a little bit, it has a real knack to get me to say, let's just go down this path to see what's down there. Then, I'm that far into it, so I should find a bench. Then, I find the map and you know what, I bet if I go down this path I will unlock the shortcut. Oops, I died. Well, I should go get my Soul back and get that shortcut open so I can start fresh next time, but I'll just give the boss a try. Oops, died, but I bet I could beat him next try. Oops, died, but you know what I bet switching up the charms would get it done. Beat them which opens up a new area, so let me just go down this path to see what's down there...

Finding new areas and hidden paths is really satisfying. Getting new skills to be able to go back through areas is also satisfying, but I wish I did a better job of marking the map. I like the whole Soul mechanic of using it to regain health or cast spells and getting it back by hitting enemies. The bosses are fun and challenging without being punishing (so far anyway). The charms might be the first RPG-esque element in a game I've played that I actually like.

The only thing I don't like is some of the platforming, especially around spikes. I find it incredibly frustrating and I don't really feel a sense of accomplishment when I finally get past it. It's more just relief I don't have to do it anymore. That's probably a me issue more than the game, though.

This is actually a part I don't particularly like either.

Might just be my filthy casual self being used to instant retries on platformers, but I find them difficult enough without the Souls-like death mechanics attached.

Your last paragraph was me and why I never finished the game, the precision platforming was just too much lol

Glad to know I'm not the only one

There’s only a few precision platforming bits and it sounds like you haven’t even hit the really hard ones yet! I didn’t mind them. They’re difficult but not impossible and the Knight’s movement is a core part of the gameplay

A lot of the "midir takes too long is too hard" commentary are from people who didn't realize you're supposed to wait out his attacks to hit the head and just wacked at his feet (doing 50% damage).

So glad you like it.

Word of advice, don't do the path of pain. Just skip it. If you don't like platforming, I can't imagine what you'll feel about that part.

Been playing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on PC(played the first two games years ago). While I had to do some light modding to get Mass Effect 2 working on my ultra widescreen monitor, I'm pretty happy with it.

But man, if Mass Effect was a television series, the first game was just the pilot. Mass Effect 2 is pretty much better in every single way right away.

God, I hope that's not true

I feel like I've done quite a bit of them, although, most seem to be for optional stuff like freeing the little grub guys.

I just looked it up on YouTube.

Yeah, f*** no .

Have you had to bounce on the tentatcle worms with your sword yet?

I'm not sure what tentacle worms are, so I'm guessing not.

I did some platforming last night across some centipedes, but it was for a soul canister fragment, not something required for progression. It took me a little while, but it wasn't too bad.

That’s what I meant. The toothy worm/centipede things. There’s a dozen of them or so that you have to bounce across to get the goods

Gotcha. I haven't got there yet. The part I did you had to follow one across, but the difficult bit was jumping and dashing over 3 or 4 walls with spikes on them...and of course if you hit the spikes, you get sent back to the beginning.

Yeah you’ve got two more big ones ahead of you then I think. Enjoy :yo:
