Did you play thru the ME trilogy straight thru or play anything else in between?
I am about halfway thru the first game and contemplating whether to go straight thru or not

I pretty much went straight through yeah. Maybe played a couple pick up and play games along the way but nothing else with that type of story. ME2 and ME3 does have better shooting mechanics and is less janky, but I really I really liked 1 as well. Importing your character straight over to each game is cool too.

Playing all three in row is probably doable since the main gun play is slightly different in all three and the gameplay outside of guns is varied from game to game.

I'm playing the HD remaster of Resonance of Fate. Gameplay is SO fun but the story is complete nonsense. They don't make games like this anymore and its a shame, died out in the PS3 era.

I think I’ve permanently dropped HUT at this point. It’s been about a week now. Too much grinding for the sake of grinding and once player cards get past 94 OVR, the game balance gets all wonky. I really want to enjoy a hockey videogame but there’s perpetually too many gameplay and AI issues in the EA NHL series to make it consistently fun. As well as your connection to the awful EA servers being incredibly influential.

So for now I’ll be playing Halo Infinite every now and then. As well as Super Smash and/or Civ 6 when my buddies are over.

Could just be me being in my 30’s but I’m losing my enthusiasm for modern gaming. These games basically all feel cheaply made, rushed, incomplete, and aim to capitalize on predatory addiction/grinding loops. So why waste my time?

Just do what I did. Don't play anything for 10 years and then when you come back, you will have an entire generation of great games to play :D

I'm a couple years younger and felt the same. "Maybe gaming ain't for me anymore..."

And then I rediscovered my love for single player games.

The reason you feel like that is because you play for a specific aspect of the industry (which is fine, not everyone is a super hardcore that has to play every game that comes out) which leaves you more prone to burnout.

Games that market themselves on multiplayer aren't about you having fun anymore. They're about sucking every last available dollar you have. COD, EA Sports games, Halo. It doesn't matter. All have microtransactions and mechanics designed to suck you in. And because profit above all, they're usually rushed, released incomplete or buggy or rehashed to trick the rubes to give them more money. And then will use tactics like "get this limited edition dank card/cosmetic/whatever now before it's gone" to shackle people to playing one game and one game only because people feel like they're missing out if they take a break. It's f***ing gross.

Halo infinite was my breaking point where I realized I was grinding for a bunch of shitty challenges for gaudy cosmetics I'll never use instead of actually playing the game. I don't care the gameplay is good, the mechanics, matchmaking and shit around it is designed to make you spend money.

There's still quality out there, but they're not the games getting pushed.

I decided against playing Dark Souls before Elden Ring. I realized I had a decent break between Bloodborne and Sekiro, so I'm afraid I'd get FromSoft burnout if I played Dark Souls and Elden Ring back-to-back.

Hollow Knight and Witcher 3 were on sale on the PS Store, so I picked those up. Will probably start Hollow Knight since breaking up 3rd person RPG's is probably a good idea, too.

I highly, highly recommend Hollow Knight. It's probably the best Metroidvania I've played.

By the way, Since march last I've year, I've played Dark Souls 3 -> Sekiro -> Demon's Souls -> Bloodborne and now the Dark Souls 3 DLCs and still very much enjoy it. I'd even say I'm having a hard time playing other games.

Hollow Knight is a wonderful game. Very difficult at times too. I can’t recommend it enough.

I just started Hollow Knight and I can already tell I'm going to like it. It really wears its Soulsborne inspiration on it's sleeve, doesn't it?

I know what you mean about playing non-FromSoft games. After I finished Bloodborne and Sekiro, I got a sort of gaming postpartum depression (or maybe it was gaming PTSD ). Like what's the point of playing something else? But I still think it's best to split them up for me. Besides, like I said above, I've got an entire generation of great games to play. So it's not like I'm bridging the gaps with shitty B-level games.

Giving Super Mario Odyssey one last honest try. I never sat down and seriously tried to play it so hopefully it sticks this time around. I’ve heard a lot of great things

Hollow Knight is the best Soulsborne game in existence, if you ask me.

I wouldn't ask me though. I'm not a fan of the (sub?)genre

I think after playing so much Souls, you're going to have a bit of a shock to the system starting up the Witcher 3. It's a fantastic game IMO, but the combat is a little rougher around the edges and more focus is put on more traditional RPG elements, such as characters, lore, etc (though perhaps not as hardcore as a classic RPG, as fans of that genre will no doubt tell you).

Personally, I put the Witcher 3 head, shoulders, torso, and legs above Souls games, but like I said, they aren't really my cup of tea so take my opinion with a mountain of salt

Odyssey was my first mainstream Mario game (I know, I know....look I was a PC RTS gamer growing up with a side of CRPG. Give me a break ) but I definitely enjoyed it.

Would I say great? No, but it was good. Worth a play for sure.

The hype didn't line up for me, granted....but like I said, Mario is an entire world and I'm on the outside looking in.

I played other games between Bloodborne and Sekiro and now Hollow Knight, but yeah, it was a shock to the system each time. Especially given the speed of the combat in those first 2.

I'm not particularly excited about Witcher 3, if I'm being honest. The RPG stuff is usually my least favorite part of games, but it gets talked about as one of the best games ever and it was $8. Hard to go wrong for $8.

Just started up Lost Ark. I’ve never really stuck with an MMO but I’m having a LOT of fun so far. Hoping to stick with it for a while.

I tried Mordhau for the first time. Wow, I am terrible at that game. I don't even know what I'm doing wrong. I saw you can customize classes and you can get perks. Am I just going to feel weak until I level up or something?

Has anybody played Hell Lets Loose on Xbox? I’m looking for a good FPS with a WW2 theme that isn't COD. The graphics look good on the Trailers but I’m just wondering if the story is any good and how realistic it is?

I played in on PS5 for a couple of weeks. It's a fun game if you are playing with others. Tough learning curve at first, but if you get a couple people and put some time into it, it's a fun game!
