Just got done watching the NHLN highlights. Here's a quote from Kevin Weekes (this is not the exact quote, going on memory)

"Hand it to Curtis McElhinney. I've talked to people around the Blue Jackets and they say that Bobrovsky's work ethic inspired him this season, and he it has energized his career and helped him alot when Bobrovsky wasn't as sharp early in the season and when he went down with an injury. In fact, Bobrovsky says McElhinney is the hardest working player he has been around."

Pretty cool

Blues fan here to say that sweater the Jackets wore tonight is amazing, to go along with the beautiful home sweater and logo! In my top 4 by far next to The Blues (of course,) the Avs and the Jets.

Thanks, I'm a big fan of the Jackets regular home and away sweaters. I share your appreciation of the Blues sweaters, as well, hope the rumors of change aren't accurate.

That was the best rebound control I have seen from CMac. Glad he was on his game.

Did anyone else feel the refs let alot of "interference" type play go uncalled on the Wings last night? I thought it was pretty clear from the get go that Babcock was coaching that to help them deal with our speed and forecheck.

Besides the penalty in the 1st, I don't think they called it.

It's just not this game; it's been this way for months. We get the benefit of the non-call as well. They are kind of letting the interference stand; but are calling the hooks and holds fairly tight. It has to be an obvious interference to be called now.

Last night Detroit did push the envelope a bit more than usual and got away with it. Although, for some reason, we aren't yelling about Detroit cheating. Odd.

There were a couple of things we got away with as well.

Also, they've been letting a lot go during the last month as we enter the final stretch.

Detroit has recognized it and implemented it in its game planning, is the difference. At least that's how it looked to me. I sat down close to the ice for the previous Wings game and it was ridiculous.

Good, I'm glad you guys are seeing that as well, for a minute there I thought I was becoming even more of a homer than I already am.

This post could have been made anytime between 1992 and the present day and still applied.

The only thing that's changed is that I've seen it called a couple times on them this year.

Thanks. I really wish the Blues would go back to these uniforms

As for our unis, I'm coming around on the alternates. I love our regular home and road and at first I hated the thirds as I thought they were sort of jumping on the double blue trends that other teams were already wearing, but they've grown on me and those other teams have stopped wearing their own double blues. I particularly like when they wear them against Detroit because with no red present on our uniforms it makes for really great contrast with the Red Wings' red and white. Last night was visually pleasing game.

#CBJ now 7-1-1 in their last 9GP vs. Detroit. Johansen on the success: “We play a game they don’t like to play, up in their face all night."

Sorry if that's been posted already and I missed it.

FU wings.

The last two game vs Detroit have been worse then normal and last night takes the cake. Lucky for the Jackets the 7-1-1 stat shows that it no longer works, it just makes the games a little more frustrating to watch.

At least he's open about it:

OH MY GOODNESS SOMEONE CALLING ME A HOMER CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT SOMEONE WITH AN “ABOUT†HEADER ON EVERY PAGE STATING…

I offer biased, perhaps unprofessional-at-times and verbose coverage of my favorite team, their prospects and developmental affiliates

IS BIASED? HOLY HELL I CAN’T BELIEVE IT AND I’M ME.

Seriously, this is the wrong blog from which to find objective coverage of the Red Wings.

I'm just glad the dude is whining about his team having lost to the Jackets vs. gloating about how his beloved Wings beat Columbus. :)

Our speed? compared to their's I think it is second. But to deal with the forecheck yes and just as others have suggested it is the way they play.

I find it funny that Wings fans selectively omit the push at the blue line with a stick eliminating a 3 v 2. The stoppage of play on another 3 v 2 with a Wing crying behind our net. The trips on drives to the net. The officiating may have been bad but I thought CBJ was getting short end. It goes both ways.

Also, Atkinson "shot" the puck BEFORE the net got dislodged and it was right in the middle of the net. He did get pushed and ultimately the cause was Smith helping Cam dislodge the net. The rule cited was dead on and the net being off had no impact on the goal. I love beating the Dead Thingamajigs

There will be a lot of anger from the other side over that goal. Not a surprise. We'd have some similar reactions over here.

Having said that; for or against that is a good goal. Regardless of how much work you think Atkinson did to dislodge the goal; the net being dislodged had no impact on the play. In addition; if Atkinson isn't hit the net isn't dislodged.

Atkinson was in superior position and the defensemen was desperate. That's what the defense does in that position; take the body. If that action dislodges the goal that is on the defense for allowing themselves to get into that position.

As far as some of their fans complaining about our work along the boards and having an issue with it. I'm not sure how much real hockey they watch. They should have seen a lot of it playing in the West all this time. We're not doing anything that 10 or so teams do. Maybe they aren't seeing much of the heavy games anymore.

As far as Detroit and the interference and such. They kind of have to play that way if they want any chance to win. I don't blame them. That is up to the officials to clean up if they think it's out of hand.

Like I tweeted during the 2nd intermission yesterday:

Witnessed something I couldn't comprehend last night. CBJ fans at the end of our row pack up and leave with 6 minutes left. In a 3-2 game. Against Detroit, With the playoffs in the balance. Later I saw some others (CBJ fans) in the lower bowl heading for the exits at a stoppage with 2 or 3 minutes to go.

HOW DO PEOPLE DO THAT???

I quite literally have no idea how anyone can do that. Traffic? Really? Plane to catch?

We've always been the type to just stay later than to try to 'beat the crowd'. I just can't fathom leaving early in that type of game...
