The way things are trending right now, I'd say Columbus and Washington make it. Detroit and Toronto may be getting out the golf clubs.

Lee if you're really going to say that out loud, you should at least use the white font.

Unrelated- a point I've been meaning to mention is 3rd time's a charm for Joey on the empty net chance from just outside the blue line.

There will be a lot of anger from the other side over that goal. Not a surprise. We'd have some similar reactions over here.

Have already had, in fact. See: 16 January 2009, NJD 2 @ CBJ 1 (GDT). Amusingly enough, the controversial "but the net is off" goal in that one was also the GWG.

lol. I might even look back at that one and see what that was about.

Edit - Oh that was the one were the official couldn't see the puck but didn't blow the whistle. I might have to find that one again and watch it. I think the official missed like two or three things on that sequence (including a penalty).

Having said that; for or against that is a good goal. Regardless of how much work you think Atkinson did to dislodge the goal; the net being dislodged had no impact on the play. In addition; if Atkinson isn't hit the net isn't dislodged.

Atkinson was in superior position and the defensemen was desperate. That's what the defense does in that position; take the body. If that action dislodges the goal that is on the defense for allowing themselves to get into that position.

As far as some of their fans complaining about our work along the boards and having an issue with it. I'm not sure how much real hockey they watch. They should have seen a lot of it playing in the West all this time. We're not doing anything that 10 or so teams do. Maybe they aren't seeing much of the heavy games anymore.

As far as Detroit and the interference and such. They kind of have to play that way if they want any chance to win. I don't blame them. That is up to the officials to clean up if they think it's out of hand.

Nice explanation of the ruling over on TSN "c'mon ref"
