It's hugely important. If we're in the wildcard we're playing Pittsburgh or Boston in the first round, teams that have dominated us all year. But New York or Philly? We can handle them and hopefully build some momentum and use our deep bench in a later series against the top teams.

We haven't been dominated by Boston. One OTL and one game in Columbus we should have won but bob had a bad game

We should overtake Philadelphia in the standings tonight since they lost and we have won more head to head games in the series.

I also think both teams should be higher in the standings... but 260 (CBJ) man games lost and 280 (DET) really hurts.

Back to the Columbus game. I'm not good at "scouting". What is everyone's thoughts on Schultz so far? Would he come out with Tyutin returns or would someone else come out?

Been pretty reliable so far. Makes the best plays available to him, although he's not particularly skilled. Certainly not hurting the team.

Yep.... if we can get the second or third spot in the metro there is damn good possibility we would have a chance to advance... either wild card would take a miracle series..

IF we had finished the game and won last night, we'd be 2nd in the Metro right now.

IF we had finished the game and won, who says we wouldn't be down 3-0 going into the 2nd of this game and with no energy?

Getting last night off and being able to rest is probably about as good of a silver lining as there can be from that situation.

Nothing spectacular, but solid. Pretty good so far for only a 5th round pick. I think the D men as a group have picked up their play in light of our injuries

Again, very impressed with Savard tonight

It's really easy to overlook with the 4-1 score, but Bob really put the team on his shoulders tonight. That first period was a train wreck, except for him, and he stood tall.

I haven't watched him all that closely, but he looks good to me. Lots of simple plays. Hopefully he just had a case of "Edmontonitis" and is ready to be a solid defender again. The Coach uses Schultz as a #6, which is realistic IMO, so I think he'll come out when Tyutin is back.

Washington is about to lose.

Now if only Toronto loses tonight it would be an absolutely stellar night for us

Not only do we get the huge 2 points and get 3rdi n the Metro, but we also have 5 ROWs over the Wings I believe. Thats a big jump, so just in case...

Agreed. I think Richards is best at managing defensemen which makes sense because that's what he used to be.

Schultz only saw about 11-12 minutes tonight. He's getting sheltered time. I'd say he's a #7 guy and should fill that spot once Tyutin gets back unless there are more injuries.

Agree here as well.
