Post-Game Talk: Game 5

Actually Trocheck had 5 more points than Mika in the regular season but my point is that Trocheck had a career year while Mika had his worst season as a Ranger and they still ended up with almost the same point totals.

But look at Tro's linemates: career year for Laffy, career year for Panarin. Tro played a big part, and it's also why he's relegated to winning faceoffs on the PP.

Zibs and Kreider were awful, and both were responsible for there being a merry-go-round for the 3rd man on that line.

Tro has shown he can be versatile in the playoffs. Zibs...enough said....

Same as football, basketball, same as checkers. Control the middle, control the game.

They just don't want it bad enough. That's not to say they're lazy, they put in an honest effort and give it a good go. They're just not willing to punch guys in the back of the head sometimes and be a little dirty to get what they need to get. It's just not a thing for em.
Yeah, though ultimately it comes down to who's simply physically stronger.

Blow up the top six and trade the vets tho.
Yeah they should do that as well. At least trade Zibanejad and acquire someone who isn’t a completely useless hockey player at 5v5. Obviously the defense has to be Revamped again, but the top paid players on this team are simply not good enough. There’s a reason Crosby, Barkov, Kucherov, and Hughes have skated circles around them. When your top 6 is incapable of sustaining and generating offense from below the circles at 5v5 you open yourself up to teams shutting you down very easily. As has happened once again this series.

I honestly don't think he's lazy...he simply cannot skate well enough at this level. He has the slowest first 3 steps I think I've ever seen from a player who was supposed to be a star. What really pisses me off is his inability to address it. He's had 5 f***ing years to work on it, yet in week 2 of this season some posters were already talking about what he needed to improve NEXT offseason. The joke's on us & clearly he is who he is & just another sad chapter in this franchise's shitty drafting history.
If he wasn’t lazy, he’d be taking power skating classes like a mad man. Zero improvement to his skating since he’s been 17. That makes no sense whatsoever.

BTW, if I ever hear about going full rebuild from the fans of the New York Rangers ever again I will lose my mind. You're just as likely to get a Kaapo Kakko as you are a Jack Hughes and this being the Rangers you're more likely. We lucked out with the Laf pick but still imagine tanking and drafting Kakko again.

So you read that they asked for Perreault and understand why we said no…but Drury can f*** off anyway….ok

That's because Perrault is by all accounts going to be an offensive star. You obviously can't trade that in the division.

Othmann is a poor man's JT Miller.

Make sense now?

we trade for Guentzel and there's the same posts in this thread about how the big boys cant deliver. the problem starts and ends with the defensive core. it is not. good. enough.
Nah bullshit. Guentzel was lethal at times and he’s been a big time playoff performer. He knows how to win.

He got saddled with a bunch of p***yes, though. To me, he’s what we needed. Gritty goal scorer who has won. This team has no clue how to win a thing.

Also correct. Still don't care. Don't care if he has to make 80 saves in game 6 for us to win.

He cannot

Allow

More

Than

1

Goal

for us to get past these guys.

I say all this because he is CAPABLE of it. He's just not finding a way to do it. He has to have a Kreider v. Carolina esque game 6 and just say there's nothing getting past me tonight. Again, he's the Messier of this iteration of the Rangers.

What game will Ranger fans remember from this series from him? There's literally not 1.
Absolutely ridiculous. No goalie can do this. This would be like EDM fans blaming every loss on McDavid not having a hat trick

Correct. Still not good enough.

One goalie has a shutout, the other doesn't. One goalie has allowed less than 2 goals twice, the other has done it once. You'd think Shesterkin would be the former in each situation right?

Series ain't over; if he decides game 6 they're getting nothing then the show goes on. Team in front has to be better, but it's literally up to him. He's our "Messier" the way we're built. He has to will this team to the canyon of heroes, it's the only way. They're not good enough to do it any other way.
You can't be this dense. If the roles were reversed the series would already be over and Florida would have swept. He can't stop every shot.

It seems Pittsburgh wasn’t trading him to us for less than Perrault. Does that make sense?

It's not really our top guys they're shutting down. Panarin leads the universe in xG in this series. They certainly have their share of points.

You and I have a better chance of scoring a goal in game 6 than anybody on our third line.

We will see if Trocheck can keep this up next season.

Great offence but absolutely terrible in the own zone.

Trocheck gets his points from every which way. He carries the puck, gets in the tough areas, deflects pucks, scores from the bumper position. Zibanejad's bag of tricks is not as deep. He gets his on the one timer, off the rush, feeding Kreider to do his net front thing, gets shorthanded points, though Trocheck has this department covered as well.
