Post-Game Talk: Game 5

I sincerely suggest anyone actually upset in a bad way to take next game off.

Your mental health is far more valuable than a sports match. I stepped away from politics quite a bit over the last 7 months, for example. And everyone on here knows how insanely political I am.

I’ve made a conscious effort to get rid of the bad. I really couldn’t care less if they lose. It would suck, but it’s also life. Far more important things than wasting stress levels on this team.

My PSA for the evening.

100%. I’m 42, and I’ve learned over the years that fandom can bring absolutely amazing moments but you have to measure it mentally. Life goes on win or lose. It’s fun, it’s a distraction but you can’t let your mental health be destroyed by a bunch of guys making millions of dollars to play a game. Great post!

I’ve gone through similar change this year with the Rangers. I enjoy watching, but I’m no longer letting it ruin my mood. It’s a healthier experience
It always will be. It’s far easier to walk away and find something else to enjoy for a bit than to let something as trivial as sports f*** with your head space.

I wouldn't give up on this team.

With a healthy Fox, they probably make it to the Final despite the alarming holes in the lineup.

I have a bunch of changes and believe me when I tell you that I'm gonna be obnoxious this summer, but I'm tired of hearing about blowing up the core.

We were absolutely awful that game, Bob barely had to do anything lol.

A shutout in the playoffs against the pres trophy team is a shutout in the playoffs. Still waiting for our superstar goalie to figure out how to do it. I don't care if he faces 80 shots. You cannot keep giving up 2+ goals to a very average Florida offense

Their bottom six had the tiebreaking goal.

Our bottom six attempted six shots in the entire game.
Their 4th line kept pinning our 1st line in our own end for a good chunk of the night. We let them run roughshod over us & couldn't come up with an answer. It's like we shoot out wad in the 1st period & we have nothing left in the tank. They basically wore us down in the games down there.

Igor is amazing but he has not yet had a game this series where he straight up says you are not beating me tonight.

Bobrovsky did.

The Panthers outside the goal crease are a slightly better team than the Rangers, but this one's on Igor. We're still waiting for a masterpiece performance and he just hasn't been able to do it. This Panthers team isn't exactly the dynasty Oilers; they're offense is very stoppable.

That being said, if you look back that Wennberg broken stick on the dump in started the entire sequence where Florida scored their 2nd goal. An awful break (no pun intended). This game had marathon OT written all over it

Sometimes I wonder what the f*** people are watching.

I’m far happier stepping away a bit. As someone that has experienced real, true mental health crises (including suicidal ideations), I sincerely suggest to anyone seemingly overly upset to step back.

I’ve dealt with a lot in the last 4 years. Watching a parent waste away in front of your eyes all while getting f***ed by opportunistic scumbags in my profession (literally taking advantage of my moms state in hospice and finally “shivving” me literally during her funeral - I’m not kidding on that; I was cut out literally while I was burying my mom).

So I decided to not let sports matter. Why bother getting upset? I’d rather get upset at individual losers who say dumb shit than something I have zero impact on.

It’s different for everyone. But take it from someone who is lucky to be around today that touching grass, logging off, and tuning out is worth it sometimes.

YMMV, friends. Love all (ok, well, most) of you. Been a fun ride this year and however it ends it ends.

Glad you’re here man and sorry for the rough go. It will make you stronger, and clearly it has

I just dont see how they get the cap space to make moves man. Moving Kakko/Miller isnt enough to get rid of guys like Trouba.

Haha the Rangers losing the Cup in 2014 and the Mets losing the WS in 2015 had a profound impact on the way I view my sports fandom.

I still feel my passions but they are nowhere near the extremes of my youth. "It is what it is" and "f*** it , we ball" are truly wonderful psychological balms that make games like this just another day.
