What’s the buyout cap hit for Zibadejad? If it doesn’t come out after the playoffs that he’s nursing something at least decently severe, I’d be genuinely considering a buyout.

Trouba I think will actually fetch a decent return

that’s my feeling. I think they’d feast on edmonton and would pretty well against dallas, though ottenger is problematic.
No offense and nothing personal, but I hate all the talk about next round i see all over the board while we're still very much in the mud of this round. I try to avoid it, but I'm emotional right now, so I'll just say McDavid and Draisaitl would absolutely roast this defense at even strength and especially on the man advantage.

Why are you all obsessed with Jones anyway? He seems decent to me.

I know that Clendening, ADA and MDZ were board favourites while Girardi, Staal and Malik were useless schmucks, but defensemen who are actually good at defending in their own zone are a positive to have on your team whether they sometimes get pinned in their zone or not.

Like it or not, wheeling out Lindgren and Trouba has worked for this team cos we are still in and finished 1st in the NHL.
Lindgren especially has not had a bad playoffs. In fact, he has an argument for having been our best defenseman at defending. There aren't a whole bundle of great defensemen in the NHL who you can do everything like a McDonagh did so you have to strike a balance.

did...did you watch Lindgren and Trouba tonight?

look, this team is transition driven. I agree with machinehead that the team’s biggest issue by a country mile is their defense. they can’t move the puck. once they do start moving the puck, even f***wads like mika and panarin start to function. but we’ve been pinned our own zone for humongous chunks of these games and don’t know how to get it out. what made this game particularly egregious is we were fumbling even the most basic clears. yes, we got pressured a lot, but even when we had some open ice we managed to f*** things up

the biggest concern is it isn’t just trouba, it isn’t just miller, it isn’t just lindgren. rangers have to completley overhaul their defense.

Dave knows this series is over "they are bigger and they're deeper". What's our advantage a defenseman on one leg and a goalie that's good but their goalie is no slouch either? Seriously, what's the point of even watching these two games. This is absolutely unwatchable.
It will be different at MSG. Don't step on the ledge yet.

I’m talking purely hypotheticals.

I didn’t think we’d win tonight, but I thought we’d look a lot better as the game went on. I’ll be very impressed if they win another game this round

I don't really have useful thoughts about the game, because I watched the first 50 minutes out the corner of my eye on my phone at work. So instead I'm gonna whine.

I don't think I actually posted it, but early in the Carolina series I was gonna say that in the playoffs, body penalties don't really get called, but trips do. They don't. Whatever extends the series does. For years, fans and athletes of other sports were saying the NHL playoffs are peak sports. And it didn't grow the league. So they've readjusted. Drama and game 7s grow the league (theoretically). And it's made the middle sections of series really boring, all around the league.

The NBA started doing the "last 2 minute report" almost a decade ago at this point. On one hand, it takes pressure off individual refs, because everyone gets called out equally. On the other, it shows that the whole thing is either a crapshoot or rigged, depending on perspective. Either way, it shows that what's in the book isn't what's called in reality.

So yes, we got f***ed on a blatant trip. But at the same time, the f***ery is part of the game, and everyone's gets it at some point. So get it together, and win game 5 and 6.

What really sucks about it is that we've predicated our offense on the rush, controlling quality, and not needing shots to get great chances.

Ok, and we've had some success there, but it makes it doubly puzzling that we've built a defense corps that can't move the puck. If you want a million odd man rushes and to just do royal road all day, you should do the opposite and prioritize puck movement.

I actually think he's the reason why the Rangers can win this one.

Basically anything above the pad has a 40% chance of going in on him. I know the last 2 games have been ugly but lets not get it twisted, Panthers have gotten a ton of the luck in this series and heavy officiating slant (especially at home) and yet we're right here and its 2-2.

Also for all of Igor's heroics (and he's made some huge saves in each of the last 2) he's given up 5 goals that he should stop or HAS to stop. Thats too many. Thats half of Florida's output with a goalie in net. He was great tonight overall, but he was also 1 soft goal away from being great tonight in a regulation win.

Team feels to me like it’s short a real 1C, another winger who can do some semblance of what Laf has done (supposed to be Kakko), and while I’ve been shouting from the rooftops that Trouba has to go for ages now, Lindgren’s drop off and Fox being 50% of himself due to injury is killing us.

This is not an anti-Igor post but Vally saying that game 4 against Carolina was a wasted performance by Shesterkin. That was probably one of the worst games he played all playoffs. Weird take.

Yeah, but who wants to trade for him? Going to have to do a hefty retain and give up valuable assets at this point.
almost better to buy him out. especially if you have to retain more than a couple million or give up valuable assets.

It's so f***ing bad.

I don't know how people expect our forwards to score when we literally never have the puck.

We made a tough decision ditching Strome after a good run and moving forward with Trocheck. We need to make some tough decisions on defense.
Trouba has to go and it’s not a hard decision. Jones needs a full time shot.

We can talk about Lindgren and Miller but it’s a tall order replacing too many. I want a top pair D and then move Lindgren down.

I do not understand the lafreniere usage I really don’t. You are clearly sitting in a budding superstar. Why aren’t you running him out there as much as you can? You don’t have a right wing for Mika’s line right now. You’re running Blake wheelers corpse out there. What the f*** are you doing??? You can’t find 5 6 more mins for this kid when you can’t create any offense when he’s not on the ice???

Zac Jones should be playing but its too late now. Coach won't play him. He was fun to watch on that streak we went on when Trouba was out.
