Fox, Schneider, Jones, Gustafsson and two more actual NHL caliber D would be an upgrade on what we have
Pretty much 80 percent of the league is looking for NHL caliber D. Expect to overpay unless you trade for one.
Gus? You giving him 5 million per? Just asking. He has been a decent player but not sure about that.

First four games pretty much have all gone the same: Panthers dominating o-zone time, shot attempts, and shots on goal. They’re just outmatched. It’s funny because if they can manage to get by the Panthers, I actually really like their chances against the West.

put Miller back with Schneider and replace Trouba with Ruhwedel.
Can see a path forward if laviolette doesn’t go that route.
I would settle for Miller/Schneider back.
No way this or any coach is taking Trouba out. Just the way it is.

Dave knows this series is over "they are bigger and they're deeper". What's our advantage a defenseman on one leg and a goalie that's good but their goalie is no slouch either? Seriously, what's the point of even watching these two games. This is absolutely unwatchable.

There’s no way Mika avoids knowing he is getting roasted so hopefully this lights a fire under his ass
I'd love for that to happen but realistically he might play heavy and greasy for a few shifts then exhaust himself and go back to trying to win on special teams knowing what he is as a finesse player.

You know what frustrates me.

The sulking.

Against NJ. They looked defeated. Camera over the bench looks like players sulking in defeat..

Game 5 against the Canes. Game 6 end of the 2nd against the Canes. They looked absolutely defeated.

Tonight. Pans to Mika. Looks absolutely defeated.

Are the leaders just mentally weak? Is it that hard to bounce back? They did in Game 6 3rd period. Was that a fluke? Or was that the never quit that we really need to show up.
Mika has had the defeated look all season. He has consistently looked as if his dog died. I'm tired of this version of Mika.

that’s my feeling. I think they’d feast on edmonton and would pretty well against dallas, though ottenger is problematic.

First two games were even as can be. Last two games they decided to become the San Jose Sharks.

The idea that Gustafsson is commanding a huge salary is basically something HFNYR just made up.

yeah there's no way Gus is getting 5mil aav. he probably should but he's not. some idiot team will definitely give Lindgren that though, hope it's not us.

I don’t get the Panarin knocks. Yeah, he can do more but he’s not the problem right now. There are other issues that have been pretty much there for multiple years. Maybe they all get going the next 3 games, but it’s the same shit that usually happens to this squad. Trouba is the worst trade this franchise has made since I’ve been a fan, 30 some odd years. Yeah they made some bad ones before but not ones that impacted us as much given the cap constraints in todays game.

I think we can all agree that this run has been an improvement on the previous 2 for Panarin. He was at least very impactful against Carolina and was in the middle of beating a very good team.

He's been a distant 3rd best player on his line during this run. For 11.6, that isn't enough. Some signs of life on that shift that led to the 2nd goal, thats the kind of battle that will lead to chances and points. Once again, not enough but at least it's something which is more than I can say for the other 2 in the big 3.

Still has his chance to make a major mark on this run though.

Last summer, we didn't try.

We told ourselves Miller is young, Lindgren has muh chemistry with Fox, and Trouba was banged up, and just ran it back.

If they run it back again after this, it's time to blow up everyone in charge.
Fox, Miller, and Schneider are here long term. The other guys are going to be replaced in the future by Mancini, Fortescue, and hopefully the pick next month all are around the end of this decade.

Why are you all obsessed with Jones anyway? He seems decent to me.

I know that Clendening, ADA and MDZ were board favourites while Girardi, Staal and Malik were useless schmucks, but defensemen who are actually good at defending in their own zone are a positive to have on your team whether they sometimes get pinned in their zone or not.

Like it or not, wheeling out Lindgren and Trouba has worked for this team cos we are still in and finished 1st in the NHL.
Lindgren especially has not had a bad playoffs. In fact, he has an argument for having been our best defenseman at defending. There aren't a whole bundle of great defensemen in the NHL who you can do everything like a McDonagh did so you have to strike a balance.
