I don’t get the Panarin knocks. Yeah, he can do more but he’s not the problem right now. There are other issues that have been pretty much there for multiple years. Maybe they all get going the next 3 games, but it’s the same shit that usually happens to this squad. Trouba is the worst trade this franchise has made since I’ve been a fan, 30 some odd years. Yeah they made some bad ones before but not ones that impacted us as much given the cap constraints in todays game.

I guess Gus was an acknowledgement of that flaw, but that was bargain bin hunting for a solution
Gus was an acknowledgement of the lack of a PMD and I still think he's fine in his role, but it didn't change the top 4.

They have to nut up and make significant change.

They have the worst D corps of a team I've ever seen make it to this round, not counting the 2006 Sabres who had so many injuries they were quite literally down to their 12D.

I'm down for that but don't expect him to be ready until 2027-2028.
Really disappointed in Miller. I still feel doesn't help he is stapled to the worse player in the series.
But if you wanna trade him you will get a great return unlike Kakko who you will get about 30 cents on the dollar.

You're getting slightly more than Bredy Skjei got us.

Last summer, we didn't try.

We told ourselves Miller is young, Lindgren has muh chemistry with Fox, and Trouba was banged up, and just ran it back.

If they run it back again after this, it's time to blow up everyone in charge.

Lindgren and Trouba are muh grit so they must be good at defense.

I don't see how how Drury will not at least try to upgrade the D. Trading Trouba is a real possibility and get a top line guy opposite Fox. It can happen.

NHL is the bar here. We're not meeting it.
I don't disagree with you but our big name forwards are physically outmatched and lack enough gumption to play the heavy game Florida demands. Since Florida can't do that for 60 minutes, there are stretches where this team needs to take advantage. Yes, the D is the first point of failure in this for not moving the puck out with speed to our Fs. The Panthers forwards are smothering ours on the walls all night long. They've tried to the walls, they've tried lanes just outside the walls, Florida has them all covered with their forecheck.

Mika - by my count on his own turned the puck over at least 4 times in just the 3rd period. I have never seen him play this poorly. I agree with those saying it was his worse game as a Ranger. He should be ashamed. No effort, no smarts, nothing. Even Panarin at least showed some effort!

Chytil - If he was injured , fine. If he was a healthy scratch then Lavi should be ashamed. No way do you play Wheeler over Chytil.

Entire team (aside from Shesterkin) has to play better in game 5 or we will lose this series I
I see your point but Chytil has brought nothing, wheeler brought I don’t know size , grit don’t know. Hope experiment is over
I believe Laf was doing him a solid in case we win the cup he appeared in a game and is eligible to get his name on the cup.good for Lavy, players respect that.

So we are getting rid of 3/4 of our defense? Where are we getting replacements from?
Hartford? lol. Robertson? Mancini?
Are we overpaying trading and overpaying money for another loser like Trouba?
Maybe Miller brings back a very good young d-man but Drury would have to identify that and make sure he hits on it.

Or are we gonna go bargain bin hunting for 3-4 dmen to play with Fox and Schneider?

Agree with this but Gorts tied our hands. I mean realistically, what could have been done in season?

When Florida does that, we toss it out to center ice and they come right back in.

The difference in these two games is that one team has an NHL D corps that makes some mistakes but can create one and done situations, and the other team has an AHL D corps that literally can't make basic exits.

Florida are a great forechecking team and there are many instances where they're wreaking havoc. There are just as many instances where you are I could get the puck out of the zone and somehow, it still doesn't come out.

The problem with this team is 100% the defense.
The bolded was the biggest problem all night. So many culprits, but it kept happening non stop.

Fox, Schneider, Jones, Gustafsson and two more actual NHL caliber D would be an upgrade on what we have

Honestly I'm not that shocked. I won't be shocked if Edmonton wins tomorrow. The NHL wants more programming and interest this time of year. Long series create more fans.

Rangers don't do things easily most of the time. I think there have been about four "easy" series they've had since 2005 (2007 ATL, 2008 NJD, 2015 vs. an injured Pittsburgh, 2024 vs. Washington).

The silver lining is Fox started to look like his old self tonight. If he's healing he could single handedly change this series.

Mika looked like during the abridged 2021 season when he was getting over the virus. One of his worst games of all time.

So here we are again. Game 5 at home. This is like 2015 and 2022 all over again. Kreider's been through this before. Most of the 2022 team has been here before. It's another legacy game. Do they show up and take the bull by the horns, or is it the same crap as always and lay a dud? They're going to have the match up. It's time to step it up and write their own different legacy. A lot of these guys aren't going to come this close again.

They can trade Lindgren yesterday if they actually want to.

I don't what happened to Schneider. He was a huge x-factor against Carolina and in this series, he just keeps passing into his own skates.

Don't think this team lacks heart or desire or whatever word you want to use. They're always a goal away in these games and have shown time and time again they can comeback better than any team in the league. The question is why is necessary to always comeback all the time? I'm not talking about falling behind by a goal in the 1st and coming back, I mean trailing half way through and fighting back. They did it tonight, great play by Fox and Laf ties the game, it gets to OT. They were one shot away once again from stealing a game.

They're never getting blown out 6-1, but they just seem to lack any real urgency for 75% of the game. I just don't understand. It's been a theme most of the season. It gets harder to just flip a switch the deeper and deeper you go into these playoffs. It's very frustrating.

They lack a 1C. Plain and simple.
