How is my view untested when it’s literally how most players outside of the elite prospects are dealt with as they progress to the next level? You ease most young players into their future role by taking on lesser assignments as they transition and use moments like this opportunistically to help them take the next step.

I’m not sure why you think that’s revolutionary when literally every NHL team operates this way when they have raw offensive prospects on the roster in games that are out of reach.

and im the one using fallacies in their argument.........

ok man you win. i concede.

next time i hope canada checks on the other guys after they score. so this can be fun for everyone.

You can't do that in a short tournament though. Establishing chemistry early on in this tournament format, especially amongst players who don't have a rapport is a very important part in building a winning team. Sure you can spare the feelings of the Danes, but you also risk losing out on important line meshing.

Im not talking about full-on line chemistry - I’m talking about inserting guys into lines to essentially bonus them for hard work or prepare them in the event that injuries happen or shake ups are needed.

What makes more sense? Having two guys play together for the first time when they’re down 2-1 in a medal round or having them run a couple shifts together when it’s 11-0?

Again, a straw man.

If you want to keep this debate going, point to where I said Canada should check on the other guys and make sure they’re having fun.

Or, hell, point to examples of NHL teams running up the score when they could be exploring their depth, transitioning young prospects or players or giving prime opportunities to guys who need confience.

A couple of shifts isn't going to do anything. It's basically as bad as when coaches just use a blender for lines. Heck, with line changes most of the players probably have played a shift or two together anyways. The key right now for any tournament of this size is to get as many reps in with the lines you have prepped during camp.

Im going to let the coaching staff do what they want think is best for their team. They are the professionals, not us. If coach wants his star player out there scoring every shift, so be it. In the end its all about the glory, not the little nitpicking that might make a small change or whatnot.

Fair enough. But what I’m advocating for is what the majority of NHL coaches do in an NHL that is about as tight as ever and also relies on goal differentials as tiebreakers as well.

Well that argument also goes against what Hunter did today.

Goal differential is a thing. Unless the tournament changes where the game ends after being up by 10.. mercy rule (never happening) then none of you “run up the scorer arguments” have the right to complain.

I repeat goal differential counts

The real question is, how can Sweden and Finland can be this good, and Norway and denmark this bad?

Well, for one both countries aren't that big, with only 5 million people each, so you are already starting with a small pool to begin with. In Norway, skiing dominates the land and in Denmark handball is popular. Then you have to consider the elephant in the room concerning Europe, and that's Soccer. The further West you are in Europe, the more money goes to Soccer over Hockey, and conversely the further East you go, away from the warmth of the gulf stream, the more hockey takes hold.

In Finland hockey is the number 1 sport, in Sweden it is a close second. I don't know about Denmark, but in Norway team sports do not hold any real water compared to individual sports - hence why they seem to dominate in sports like skiing at the Olympics. Team sports just aren't as popular in Norway. But even though Sweden and Finland are head and shoulders above both of Norway & Denmark in hockey, it should be noted how much farther ahead Denmark is than Norway. This is Denmark's 7th appearance at the WJC, and 5th consecutive which is no small accomplishment (and I'd bet they survive to make it 6 in a row next year as well). When comparing current NHLer's it's no contest either.. Zuccarello for Norway, but Andersen/Nielsen/Bjorkstrand/Eller/Ehlers for Denmark.

It's not ****ing house league. Play the game the way it comes to you and still do it with respect like they did and move on. I hate the whole aww shucks participation award stuff that goes on now.
Exactly. Respect the other team and continue the effort. No one wants the pity from other team. Pedal to the metal for 60 mins

Not to insult the Danes, but this wasn't a fun game. The Danes played a great first imo, and had a couple great chances. Things just unraveled though.

14 - 0, oh lordy...

I take it the Danes gave up this game before the final wissle, but a scary display of goalscoring from Canada.

Only around 20 rinks in Denmark, and many of those in the same cities. Soccer and handball dominates team sports.

That's correct. Canada has not dominated world juniors this decade. The idea they are "the best" because they beat up Denmark is ludicrous.
not sure why you think Canada's entire international hockey resume is "beat Denmark". it's not. Canada is the most dominant hockey nation on the planet by quite a bit. tonight's game was meaningless in the grand scheme of things

It's crazy how the NHL missing one winter Olympics makes people forget obvious things lol. Hockey Canada can far and away assemble the best national roster out of any country in the world, period. We are absolutely dominant in one sport, let us have it.

This is something that we very much take for granted in Canada. I mean, we have hamlets, of a couple thousand people with their own arena and rink. I explained this once to someone from Phoenix and he legitimately accused me of lying, despite providing google map links to such arenas.
