still not sure why he didnt say "i still feel i can be a good player for this team" but maybe its just nothing

You've gone from (1) stating that the quote was taken of context, to (2) stating that it was 30% of a longer conversation, to (3) your new position that it maybe is or isn't part of a longer conversation.

Weird hill for you to die on, but okay.

Aha. Too bad the actual full quote was posted right above your post (which still most likely isn't the whole conversation).

Looks like it's fine to think selected Twitter quotes might still leave out parts of the whole conversation afterall. I'm shocked.

I can't like parts of a post, so if I like certain things said in a post, I have to like the whole post, no?

I mean, you can even go back and read where I said "I don't believe that he's trying to turn the locker room against the coach because that's some tin-foil hat ****."

Fair enough.

Doesn’t twitter have a limit on characters? If so, it’s set up to create outrage.

Fair enough.

:thumbu:

I liked that post because of the part where he talked about Seabs being a good teammate and such. Because I have no doubt that he was, and still is. I just think the quote(which we found was incomplete because people in the media are f***ing trash nowadays) was not a good look for him. And amended that to say that I feel better about it after we got the full quote.

Softens what he said a bit, doesn't change it.

Love the end of that quote, "for somebody".

That gave me hope and a tingle. Maybe Stanley has something in the works to get that dreaded contract and player out of here. Just don't give up too much to do it (ala TT).

I could see a young contender team like Carolina, Edmonton or Calgary picking him up for that 'veteran playoff experience leadership in the room' and I'd welcome it with open arms.

JC gets a lot of flak and deservedly so, but I like his stones here. He knew his seat was hot and this was needed.

Like Bobby Knight - 'Calbert Cheney, you are not going to make me f*@#ing look bad!'

If JC wanted to save his job, he HAD to do this - 7 in press box and Lehner as starter. Cat + Strome was an easy one - just a line mashup.

He is slow. The media shouldn't be allowed to report that? In what universe.

Of course the media can report that and he can say he disagrees, which doesn't constitute lashing out.

Also, when athletes get past their prime, they are almost always going to be the last to accept that they can't do what they used to, which is completely understandable if we are being honest. This isn't something that's unique to Seabs, which is why I don't view it as anything to make a big deal of. Father time is undefeated. At some point Kane will be asked similar questions and have similar responses. Hopefully his contract will be more in line with his abilities at that point than with Seabs now. But to me that's where all this comes from. Pent up frustration and anger (understandable) over Seabs play and contract. What he actually said wasn't a big deal.

"somebody" is the damning part...sounds like he's open to moving on

I do agree that the "somebody" part is a bit damning. Says to me that he'd be willing to accept a trade if it's the right place. I mean, you could almost say it's a disguised trade request by him. But that's more tin-foil hat shit that I won't speculate on any more than what I've already said.

If he is looking to get shipped off after two healthy scratches, I find it fairly ironic that he seems incensed about the situation he's in currently in, yet his contract will almost definitely prolong it with it's anchor weight.

That being said, I don't fault him for signing the thing in the first place (who wouldn't?), and at the end of the day he'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
