CLB fans are really really upset about losing Dorsett. This is a good thing for us.

Besides, he could be healthy for the playoffs. If we make them.

After the initial shock, I love this trade. Love Brassard, huge fan of Moore from watching him in Kitchener, and Dorsett is a great 4th liner. Gaborik has not lived up to what we needed from him. This trade also pretty much guarantees that Torts is here to stay, since these are all Torts guys.

You mean scoring over 100 goals as a New York Ranger?

You can't be serious. He has one bad year after surgery, and you dump him for 4th liners and call that a good trade. People are truly diluting themselves into believing this trade helped us.

Katie Strang ‏@KatieStrangESPN 19m Dorsett is injured (collarbone) but is expected to return by the last week of regular season or start of playoffs. Will add grit once back

That's a ridiculous way to rationalize. Better trade Patty Kane for Chris Kunitz! Ovechkin for Parenteau!

Agreed. Let's look at it this way. Gaborik, in what is likely his worst season as a pro, has one more point than the centerpiece of this trade.

Brassard is a huge upgrade on 3C, Dorsett is pretty good and Moore is a great prospect. We got a lot deeper with this, but I'm still pretty shocked.

Brassard, how's his FO % this year?

Dorsett, when is he due back and is that too late for him to form any chemsitry with anyone?

Moore, pretty disappointing numbers down in the A this year, just a matter of too many Dmen down there? Odd man out?

Brassard has been pretty good on faceoffs most of his career I believe

Dorsett is due back with about 1 week left in the season.

Too many d-men

Anybody now wondering what Gaborik said to Tortorella in the little chat they had the other day?

Dear Sather,
When we are last in goal scoring, you fire the coach instead of trading away the best goal scorer because he is having a bad season playing a position that he has never played before.

The main guy we got is Moore.

At least for now the main guy is Brassard but Moore could turn out to be in which case we'll have two very good NHL'ers.

I really, really like Derek Dorsett though. He can play and he is tough and he will stir some **** up.

No, we kept Rick Nash.

Wasn't a major reason we struggled in playoffs last year was because we needed one more offensive threat?? We got Nash to be that guy that can push us over the edge, and now we traded away the guy that consistently scored more goals than Nash each season. This trade just doesn't make sense to me.

I feel like my car was just stolen :help:

I don't understand why you guys are so upset. He's been slumping pretty bad. What did you think we were gonna get? It's a good return considering his play. Besides, we needed the cap space.

I'm blown away that Slats and Gorton actually shook up the team this much. Blown away.

However, there is a LOT of upside in this deal. Moore has 2nd pairing upside. Phenomenal skater who can really move the puck. Brassard has been coveted by the Rangers for a while now. Great vision and skill, he's just fallen into a rut in Columbus. If he can get himself back on track, he's a potential #2 center who fits in very nicely behind Stepan.

Dorsett will be a fan favorite after his first game here. Dude is a warrior and brings the same kind of game Prust did.

You can't lump the Nash deal in with this one and say "Oh we traded x, y and z for 1 2 and 3! This sucks!" It doesn't work like that. Gaborik's value was as low as it's been for a while. This was a very good return. It's unfortunate we didn't get a first round pick back, but it is what it is.

Clear disconnect between Torts and Gabby. Gabby wanted to be gone, now he is. I think he was handled the wrong way, and I think it was Torts' fault.

Further proof that Torts has some pretty solid job security here.

Gaborik needed to be moved because the Rangers needed to clear that space, I'd have preferred it be done at the draft and for at the least a 1st rounder, oh well.

How on earth was he handled the wrong way? He had the two best years of his entire career under Torts. This season, his shot has been weaker than ever and he's shown his trademark first-step maybe a dozen times, all of which lacked the game breaking speed he used to show. Torts is not to blame for his two most dangerous skills fading.
