Apparently, Moore can really move the puck which is something the team needs desperately. Next year, with Clowe, Dorsett, and Callahan, this team will be very difficult to play against. Also hoping that Brassard gets his **** together here. Rangers are pretty deep at center now.

Can someone explain how a message board full of people who trashed Gaborik endlessly has now turned into a place that worships the player?

Because the deal didn't involve a first round draft pick.

Clear disconnect between Torts and Gabby. Gabby wanted to be gone, now he is. I think he was handled the wrong way, and I think it was Torts' fault.

Further proof that Torts has some pretty solid job security here.

Gaborik needed to be moved because the Rangers needed to clear that space, I'd have preferred it be done at the draft and for at the least a 1st rounder, oh well.

I really do not know much about the players we just got. I do know that out side of the last few games. Gabby just looked like he wanted to go away. From where I sit, he looked like a very unhappy, unmotivated player. That almost makes a change via trade a certainty. Best of luck to him. The Rangers were interested in getting younger tougher player with some upside. Hopefully they achieved that. Welcome to our new players.

Anything less than a #1 pick AND a legitimate top-6 forward coming the other way, was a steal for the other team.

How much do you want to best, our best goal scorer over the past three years, lights it up in Columbus with Prospal and helps them into the playoffs?

And how much do you want to bet we miss it with our new found grit?

We traded goal scoring talent to get Clowe, Dorsett, Moore, etc... Clowe is good, but having a terrible year (and even Clowe got a better return) for a bunch of gritty 3rd liners barely capable of 20 points?

What a **** load of ****.

I have no formed opinions on this move. I'm incredibly sad because Gabby was my favorite player on the team. This is seriously one of my least favorite Ranger moments ever, even though I feel this trade makes sense.

This is exactly how I feel. Interested to see how Brassard does here.

I am personally VERY EXCITED about John Moore. I cannot wait to see how he moves out there. The main thread said his skating can be comparable to cam fowler, who flys out there... So long GABBY I lived you but I'm excited for you and for us. Good luck !

Gaborik contributed exactly one more point than Brassard. The swap maintains the status quo for us. If Dorsett does come back he's great sandpaper. It's far from giving up on this season.

That's a ridiculous way to rationalize. Better trade Patty Kane for Chris Kunitz! Ovechkin for Parenteau!

So what do the lines look like now?

Cally-Step-Nash
Clowe-Richards-Zucc
Hags-Brassard-Boyle
Asham-Pyatt-Powe

Still have either Boyle or Pyatt on the third line..

After the initial shock, I love this trade. Love Brassard, huge fan of Moore from watching him in Kitchener, and Dorsett is a great 4th liner. Gaborik has not lived up to what we needed from him. This trade also pretty much guarantees that Torts is here to stay, since these are all Torts guys.

Are you kidding me dude? What a homer.

Yeah, we'll be tough to play against with a bunch of 20 point 3rd liners?

wtf

This team needed to get rid of Torts before a 40 goal scorer.

Wow... still shocked about this. Too early to make a sound judgement. Brassard and Dorsett are pieces we need though, a solid 3C and a hard winger on the bottom 6 - I don't know much about Moore. I'm not sure that this was the best way to get these guys.

Can't believe this. Not in a good or bad way, just a shocking move.

Brassard, how's his FO % this year?

Dorsett, when is he due back and is that too late for him to form any chemsitry with anyone?

Moore, pretty disappointing numbers down in the A this year, just a matter of too many Dmen down there? Odd man out?

I agree with this. I should have taken off today because i feel so sick right now. I can't even focus at work. I'm on the verge of tears. Gaborik was a great player for us. I know people want him gone, but they have no clue how a hockey team is run.

We are getting some fine players back, but that's what they are, fine. We traded some fine players last year for Rick Nash. This year we got rid of another scorer for fine players. Next year we'll be low on scoring again and will be talking about trading for another star player.

Gabby didn't underperform here. He's having a bad season but has been one of the best FA signings this team has ever had. I loved him and he will always be one of my favorite rangers. This trade solidifies my attachment to columbus more than ever.

I'm not looking at this trade with my brain, i'm looking at it with my heart which is all i can do right now. One of my toughest moments as a rangers fan.

Huh? I didn't say that the value is equal, just that it doesn't signal giving up on this season. If anything, it tells me that they have zero faith in Gaborik the remainder of this year and feel that this move makes them better NOW.
