You mean scoring over 100 goals as a New York Ranger?

You can't be serious. He has one bad year after surgery, and you dump him for 4th liners and call that a good trade. People are truly diluting themselves into believing this trade helped us.

Thank you. People are too focused on "what have you done for me lately." He's been great for us 2 out of his first 3 years and one of those years he was injured. All of a sudden he isn't having a good year in a shortened 48 game season, we trade him for 2 3rd liners and young d-man (who I admit seems like he has good upside but doesn't solve our scoring woes) and people think its a great trade? Come on.

Outstanding trade slats! Gabby hasn't done **** all yr and is def liability. We free up cap and get nice pieces for a run. Beaver your next haha, these guys are now on notice to produce or end up in Ohio!

No, we kept Rick Nash.

When Nash can score 40 goals for us multiple times and carry the team on his back offensively, then we can talk.

Until than, Nash has played 30 games with the Rangers. Gaborik was a proven commodity here.

Right, but NYR find themselves in a situation now where they'll have to add offense in the offseason. Not enough goals on this roster.

Are you kidding me dude? What a homer.

Yeah, we'll be tough to play against with a bunch of 20 point 3rd liners?

Yeah, because Callahan and Clowe are 20-point third liners. Gaborik sure made the Rangers difficult to play against this season, huh? This team can no longer be considered 'soft'.

The Rangers now have depth and a ton of options for next season. Gaborik was being traded at the draft regardless of whether or not he was traded today for cap reasons.

This deal just reinforces a commitment to Torts as our coach for the foreseeable future. As good as Gaborik has been (obviously ignoring this year), it's been clear that he doesn't fit within the Torts system. Nash fits the bill much better. I just wish we could have traded Gabby and a 1st straight up for Nash and a 6th so we could have held onto AA and Dubi.

All that said, at least Boyle slot at 4C (where he belongs). It just seems like we're banking on Clowe and Brassard to turn it around.

Can someone explain how a message board full of people who trashed Gaborik endlessly has now turned into a place that worships the player?

Because people like me want to give everyone time to mourn. It's the right thing to do.

I am in love with this trade.

Yes Dorsett is out with an injury but he will be back and looks promising. Brassard is our new 3C and Moore has a lot of promise.

People need to stop complaining, this was the only thing we can do to shed cap space for our RFA's and Clowe next year!

Good luck to Gabby in Columbus. Hope to see him on a line with Dubinsky and Anisimov in the future.

We got depth while shedding cap space, good trade for both teams.

I don't know why people are happy about cap space. That just means another 30 year old we overspend for who comes here to retire.

Ironically, Gaborik is by far the best Free Agent signing Sather has made here. And now he's gone.

I'm blown away that Slats and Gorton actually shook up the team this much. Blown away.

However, there is a LOT of upside in this deal. Moore has 2nd pairing upside. Phenomenal skater who can really move the puck. Brassard has been coveted by the Rangers for a while now. Great vision and skill, he's just fallen into a rut in Columbus. If he can get himself back on track, he's a potential #2 center who fits in very nicely behind Stepan.

Dorsett will be a fan favorite after his first game here. Dude is a warrior and brings the same kind of game Prust did.

You can't lump the Nash deal in with this one and say "Oh we traded x, y and z for 1 2 and 3! This sucks!" It doesn't work like that. Gaborik's value was as low as it's been for a while. This was a very good return. It's unfortunate we didn't get a first round pick back, but it is what it is.

I love the return for Gaborik. (3) pieces that were needed including players who will be around for the long haul. Brassard is a 2c, easily. He has been the 1c in CLB for years.

Dorsett is a better version of Prust. 20-30 points. 200PIM's.

Moore is the wildcard here. The Rangers must like him.

I can not stress enough how much I like this trade.

Told rangers delt 2 contracts back to Columbus heard echo players can anyone confirm? @Dagoon44 I believe so. Delisle and Logan Pyett I believe went with Gabby. Puts them at 50.

As much as I support Gaborik, the Rangers became easy to play against, and the team effort was lacking.

I think there is no chance they win the Cup now. But they are set up to bounce back next season.

Lol at anyone liking this return. We just got so much worse

How did we get worse exactly? We traded an overpaid and grossly under-performing soft as a feather winger for several useful parts. Sure, Gaborik could come back and pot 40 again next season...but that's far from a certainty at this point. And he's a UFA next year too. Not to mention his crippling cap hit of 7M. So, no, we really didn't get any worse considering Gaborik was providing us practically nothing this season.

Gaborik had to go sometime. Whether it be now or at the draft. The guy obviously didn't fit here. He was one of my favorite players over the past few years, but he's an injury-prone, streaky scorer who disappears in big spots. Not sure why people are so up in arms.

Again,, the return is not the major issue. There is value there. Its a. Our offensive struggles and b. The fact that we're assembling a NYR roster inside our division that bothers me. Prospal, Gaborik, Tyutin, Anisimov, Erixon, Dubinsky. Never seen anything like it.
