G Zach Fucale (2013, 36th, MTL)

Right now Fucale is hit or miss. His ceiling isn't all star but solid number 1.

I don't understand how people talk about upside with goalies they have never seen live. Even if you have seen him how are you gonna talk NHL upside about an 18 year old goalie.

Its being rumoured that they will get a few first round picks but I have not come across anything else yet. The trade period does not open until friday, but ill keep digging and see what else I can find.

Ugh.. would prefer that this wasn't going to happen, but there's definitely a level of deal that "can't be refused". Here's hoping for that. I suppose this would mean Brassard would be coming back in return, which is less than appealing (and his 4th Q team in 3 seasons).

More likely would be Booth coming back, since he is only 17. Not sure what Quebec has for picks to offer.

Wouldn't be happy to see Fucale go that's for sure.

They have one 1st round pick over the next 3 years, and it's their 2016 one which should be a high pick. They have no 2nd rounders until 2018 as well.

I have a feeling this is going to be two separate deals. Fucale won't be able to join the team until January because of the WJC.. so they'll do the trade for Murphy and have him there asap. No sense in waiting to get 2 players when you can get 1 earlier.

Yeah most likely Murphy will be gone by Friday.

2016 first wouldn't be too bad. Maybe Halifax can load up for a 2018 Memorial Cup bid. We'd potentially still have a few guys from this years squad.

At the end of the day it's:

Eric Brassard
Rd_1, 2016
Rd_3, 2016
Rd_1, 2018
Donaghey at draft

For

Fucale
Murphy
Rd_5, 2015

Which is not bad at all.

I'm happy with the return, especially considering how Murphy has played for us. Never lived up to expectations at all.

Ah I didn't know about Donaghey, that does make it quite a bit better. Plus at least that 16 1st should be a fairly high pick.

Donaghey is an 18 year old defenseman who went undrafted in 2015, however he was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs camp where he made enough of an impression to earn himself a contract.

Yep, I'm happy with it too. I would have liked to get Booth instead of Brassard, but apparently he has a NTC and refused to waive so what can you do?

We got what should be a high pick in the Veleno/McIsaac draft.. although I believe Veleno is applying for exceptional status this year, though the Q has never given it out..

We turn Murphy into Donaghey, which is an upgrade plus Cody is a year younger.. we get the 2018 1st which I guess doesn't have tremendous value right now, but it's still a 1st and could be flipped for someone/something else in the future. Also the 2016 3rd which could be alright I guess.

The market for goalies just isn't very big. Nobody is going to sell the farm for 3 months of Fucale.. Quebec is already in the Memorial Cup and they know Zach can play well there, they're taking a risk but that's what you have to do to win the Cup.

The trade is quite solid for Halifax. If Quebec can win the Cup, and I hope they do so Fucale can get another, than this is win-win for both sides.. as of right now, imo we've "won" the trade.

Yeah Murphy was a bust. It was like the Luca Ciampini of the mooseheads defense. Just so frustrating to watch. Last year's playoffs series against Val'Dor was adding salt in the wound with the way Randy Gazzola played.

i heard from an inside source who is connected with Quebec that Booth is willing to come to Halifax and that the moose wanted Booth to stay with Quebec get the experience making a run then at the draft all the picks and Brassard go back to Quebec for Booth.

Now I know this guy and he has been good in the past with his information about other trades he told me, but again nothing is 100%.
