G Zach Fucale (2013, 36th, MTL)

i heard from an inside source who is connected with Quebec that Booth is willing to come to Halifax and that the moose wanted Booth to stay with Quebec get the experience making a run then at the draft all the picks and Brassard go back to Quebec for Booth.

Now I know this guy and he has been good in the past with his information about other trades he told me, but again nothing is 100%.

I guess that would essentially make the trade Fucale and Murphy for Booth and Donaghey. I would hope the Mooseheads get to keep one of the draft picks, we're basically handing the Remparts the best chance they'll ever have at a Memorial Cup.

Apparently Boucher said that the only future is that Halifax sends the 2018 2nd back for Donaghey.

Palov said the 2016 1st was a key asset for Halifax

Halifax really wanted 2016 1st because that is the Joseph Veleno/Jared McIsaac draft, assuming neither gets special status for 2015.

"@PatHirtle Betting the pick goes back at the draft and live bodies come back this way." >> No, the 2016 1st is one of the key pieces.

Not a Q follower so pardon if it's an obvious answer... does the deal make it more likely that they'll also sell off Ehlers as well?

"I told Halifax that I really want to stay" - Nik Ehlers when I asked him about the looming CHL trade deadline.

Willy Palov @WillyPalov · Dec 18
"@cal_rn I read they were looking at Ehlers...thoughts?" >> A few teams have called but no real discussions.

Willy Palov @WillyPalov · Dec 18
"@horaxhorax Have you heard anything about Ehlers possibly being moved?" >> It's not something the Mooseheads are considering at this point.

Brassard isn't allowed to go back to Quebec next year. Unless the league is changing their rules for Quebec he would have to wait like three years before he is allowed to be traded to Quebec and Next year is obviously his last year.

I don't think Veleno gets EPS, but I could easily see him in Halifax.

As someone who has watched Joey since he was 12, he's just not that good. Don't get me wrong he will play in the NHL, but he's not dominant in Midget.

He just said in exact words at the draft it all comes back to us for booth. Like I said he was credible before but somwtimes people say things to make it sound like they r in the know with their team but so far he has given me credible info

I love how he has given up one goal yet is so scrutinzed. He's dominated so far this game and this tournament.

Slovakia
Finland
Denmark
Slovakia

edit: Should mention this statement of fact above is my guess at the reason why the majority of people don't really care about Fucales performance so far, I'm not suggesting anything other than that.

No matter how you slice it, he has been extremely good. I think a lot of people were hoping he'd fail so they could say "I told you so" and probably will still blame it on him if they lose tonight. But he has been stellar.

I don't know, I like Fucale, wanted him to be the TC starter, and I'm glad the Habs have him, but... I'm not sure there's really much to go on from the WJC anyway that would merit him being called "stellar" or even "extremely good". He "hasn't messed up", and "has managed to stay awake", at least. But he hasn't been tested. Like, at all. I'd go so far as to say you could pick out any goalie in the entire tournament, or even in the CHL in general, and they could have played goal for Canada and the record would be the same. It's not a knock on Fucale, just an observation that this isn't exactly much of a proving ground for pro-Fucale support so far. Maybe tonight will be different. But actually, I'd rather see him just keep on being a passenger, tbh. It's good for Team Canada if that trend continues, for sure. I'm content if Fucale saves his heroics for the Mem Cup. :)

I'm too lazy to go and read 22 pages of this thread  but has it been suggested that he could be traded by Montreal to somewhere he's really needed? He's a great trading chip, as far as I'm concerned, with Price having 10+ playing years still in front on him.

It won't be the main story because the game ended 5-1, but against Slovakia, he was great in the first period and beginning of the second. It was a 1-0 game for a long time and that's because Fucale made some great saves. The Slovaks had some very good scoring chances in the first.

When the Habs drafted Price, a lot of Habs fans hated the pick because they assumed Jose Theodore would be an elite goalie for the next decade, and look how that worked out.

Now, Price is certainly proven more than Theodore ever did, but trading a 19 year old goalie prospect because you don't need a new goalie right at this moment isn't the best idea.

One tournament does not override several seasons of mediocre play

Several seasons of mediocre play? I agree this year (Including the last playoffs) has been below average, but he was pretty good the last two seasons. He was on powerhouse teams I know, but his stats were always good. Keep in mind that in the Q, the highest save percentages in the league were .915 and .911 in those same years, so he wasn't far off. He also had either the best or second best GAA in those years. He was also very strong in the playoffs.

2012-13 Halifax Mooseheads QMJHL 55 2 2 3162 124 1 2 2.35 45 5 3 1232 0.909
2013-14 Halifax Mooseheads QMJHL 50 0 2 2917 110 3 6 2.26 36 9 3 1076 0.907

2013 Playoffs-17 1041:41 425 390 35 3 2.02 0.918 16 1 0 0

The goalie stats in the Q are very hard to judge. To give you an example, Jonathan Bernier`s save percentage was always between .905-.909. That`s the best recent example I can give as there`s not too many goalies coming out of the Q that are playing in the NHL these days..We can even go back to Luongo who`s save percentage during all his years in the Q was between .878 and .903, although the league has changed since this time.

Anyways, we`ll see how he plays out. We`re hoping he becomes a decent goaltender for us down the line, but if he was made to look better than he really was because of the team he played on, then we`ll see the results pretty quickly as early as next year.

he gets **** on by HFScouts that have never seen him play because they see a .900 save percentage on hockeydb.com while playing for the ****ing mooseheads

Hmm well last year he was tied for 6th in save percentage with like 3 other goalies. Pretty sure the Mooseheads were pretty good in 13-14. So he put up average to above average numbers on a great team

...

How has Price proven more than Jose Theodore ever did again? Theodore had a Hart and Vezina - Price has neither.

I saw a bunch of bad goals in last year's WJCs, too.

I don't believe that is true. He let in perhaps a couple, but people conveniently forget the remarkable work he did in those games. He certainly was a lot more solid than the previous 3 or 4 Canadian starters. That Canada team just wasn't that good.

When you lose 2-1 in the last game, fans remember the weak second goal, but forget the 4 or 5 robberies throughout the game. Team has to score.
