Usually have taken a couple of games (no more than five) to adjust the new level he is playing and after that he always has been great. I'm expecting his first games in NHL are little bit of a struggle too. I hope Nashville doesn't lose their faith even if it happens.

So, the kid struggled and melted under heavy fire?

He actually played really well until Arvidsson took a major penalty that they ended up scoring twice on.

One puck kinda bounced in the air during a scrum at the net & was swatted in. The other Reinhart was all alone in the slot & snapped one pretty good.

Third goal he literally kicked in himself.

Not making excuses..he looked good honestly. Getting a whopping 1 goal of support didn't help things though.

Save percentage isn't good on the long run. The second goal should have been saved as it's the kind of goal that separates the no name Antti Niemi's from Price, Lundquist and Rask.

Yeah, allowing a screened shot from the high slot is completely unforgivable...

He looked fine and should get better when he actually has a dozen North American starts to his name.

Sitting about twenty feet away from his net during the second period really drove home how small the kid is. I thought he looked fairly good positionally. The stats don't tell the whole story for his first start.

I will say that he is a very well hydrated player. He would grab that water bottle at every single stoppage. I honestly expected him to grab it every time the play went to the other end

The team as a whole looked good up until Arvidsson had a goal called off due to goalie contact (Hodgson's skate made contact with Johnson's skate, though I thint the goal would have gone in without that contact so it was even more brutal to have it waved off. Legit call, but brutal) and shortly thereafter got the 5 minute major for the cross check. A game that easily could have been 2-0 Nashville, if not better, ended up 2-1 Buffalo by the time that PP was over. I would bet that didn't help with the nerves SarOS was feeling.

I'm interested to see if his size affects his ability to become an nhl starter one day. he was so dominant for Finland in the wjc. and has put up great numbers in his career thus far.

there just aren't really any sub 6ft goalies anymore, the exceptions being halak, enroth, bernier and tokarski

tbh, I thought the refs kind of screwed Nashville with that call (not that I was mad about it ). Saros looked pretty good for his 1st game. He only allowed 1 ES goal, which isn't too shabby. The 5 minute Sabres PP totally turned the game around.

One or two is an exception, four out of 30, 12% so within normal deviation in any group.
The nets are the same size, so it's primarily about angles, rebound control and moving from one position to another to make several saves in a row.

3 out of 60, since Enroth (and arguably Bernier) is a back-up, so 5%. Tokarski is only up because Price is out.

Saros proving that undersized goalies can make a huge impact. He is crazy good but undersized

Bump needed:

10 games in the mens national team and 7 shutouts. 3 games in the WHC (last year 1 game) 3 shutouts.

If he continues to post only shutouts throughout his international career it will be good for team Finland going forward.
