Absolutely, since it'd mean that they wouldn't concede a goal anymore which would lead to great success.

Except, considering he only plays the preliminary round, it would mean Finland always makes the quarter final :naughty:

IMO he should be the #1 goalie. I was far more comfortable with him in the goal. I think that Koskinen is overall quite overrated and he has let in multiple weak goals and enjoys bouncing the puck. I feel much safer with Saros and his rebound control is better too.

It'll be a mistake if Finland uses Koskinen vs Canada...

My thoughts exactly.

It will be a mistake if Finland plays Koskinen in the elimination games, I don't care who plays against Canada.

Zero faith in Koskinen. He doesn't look confident and I think he lets in easy goals at times. He should be the backup.

Don't care who plays vs Canada? Surely you'd rather face Denmark than Sweden?

Saros has looked more confident that's for sure. But I'm just a little bit worried if we're facing teams like Canada or Russia in elimination games. Hardly a 5'10 goalie in net against sneaky goaltenders like Ovy, Perry etc. They will find the upper corners and that's where small goalies leave the space. It's not about his skills he's great.

Will be interesting to see who's in the net, it could be anyone except Bäckström.

We have to go up against tough teams no matter what. We can still lose to Canada with Saros in the net and chances are, if Saros loses unconvincingly against Canada, then he will go with Koskinen in the elimination games. That is terrifying.

And Koskinen lets in softies, so the point about Saros letting in goals in top corners is probably moot. :)

I want him to succeed so badly. Finland is due another elite goalie now that the current crop is getting long in tooth. Also it's great that he's 5'11'' or whatever his height is. I'm getting kind of bored with the current trend of 6'6'' goalies who block shots and play the percentages.

Saros gets the start tonight. Hopefully he can get a decent effort from his teammates, but it seems that may be a stretch given that they're absolutely hammered with illness and on the second game of a back to back against the Pens of all teams. Yikes!

I've been a huge Saros fan since he was draft eligible, and I felt like Nashville was getting the best goalie in the draft in the fourth round. Was fantastic in his rookie year in the AHL, and was really good the other night.

He definitely goes against the mold that Nashville has followed to this point in giant, athletic goaltenders, but he's so fast and agile that I believe he can overcome it.

I think as early as next season he'll be the full-time backup, and when Pekka's contract expires he will hopefully be ready to take over the reins full time.

Pretty good start to the season for Saros. 943 sv% in 9 AHL games

Got really high hopes for Juuse. Could give us fins another 15 years of breathing space when it comes to the goaltender position.

Ville Husso should join Saros in a few years as a top Finnish goaltender. Kind of a rough start in the AHL/ECHL but eh, gotta get used to these smaller ice!

Ukko Pekka Luukkonen is another potential 1st/2nd round pick.

Korpisalo had a good last year but with the injury tough to say how he looks today.

I have high expectations for Saros and hope he gets NHL stars this year.
