Oh look ANOTHER Nashville goalie prospect.... Honestly, there might be a goalie back up Milwaukee...wait there already is.... Now if only the Preds could draft forwards.

But honestly, should the Preds sign this guy next year?

Saros is so high end at every goalie attribute except for size. I think that he has decent to good NHL-starter potential. He has dominated at every level he has played.

Absolutely, why wouldn't you, because of his size? I think the whole size thing is a bit overrated I mean look at Devan Dubnyk he's 6 foot 6 and couldn't stop a puck to save his life.

I believe with their win today, Saros' HPK team moved into 10th place and will play Teravainen's Jokerit team in a best of 3-game series for the right to be the 7/8 seed in the quarter-finals.

Has there ever been better stats in a team outside top 8?

05-06 season JYP finished 9th; Sinuhe Wallinheimo 94,0sv% 1,89gaa 6shutouts [back then the league avg GAA was 2.74 vs this season 2.42]

06-07 season Ilves finished 9th; Tuukka Rask 92,8sv% 2,38gaa 3shutouts [league avg GAA 2,87 vs this season 2,42]

Similiar perfomances have been shown before, but nevertheless superb season from Saros.

I was thinking is he head and shoulders above the others in the Preds system; Mazanac, Hellberg.

Looks to be the best goalie prospect from Finland since Rask. He's the same size as Tim Thomas, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

I don't see Juuse's lack of size as an issue at all, his positioning is just so good.

Height wise not quite :sarcasm: skill wise I think the Preds at the very least should give him so time to play side by side with them on North American Ice to get a better idea of what they have.

His size IS an issue. There's always room above his shoulders and that's why his team is losing in the playoffs. He doesn't compensate enough, or can't compensate enough, by coming out of the net. Against skilled shooters that's a huge disadvantage, and the NHL tends to have better shooters than the Finnish league.

Seriously? They have scored 3 goals in 4 games vs Kärpät.

Juuse Saros has played now three games in finnish national team. 2 shutouts and 1 goal behind him. Shutouts against Germany and Slovakia, and he let the only goal against Latvia. S-% 98.4.

Some amazing saves against Slovakia tonight. Three games 62/63.

5-6cm taller and he would be the next Tuukka Rask. Though i believe he will be good nevertheless but maybe not superstar.

It's weird that he fell so much in the draft since everyone saw that the kid's a real deal in u18's

Well, the kid is a shrimp - so he fell. you can't build your team on shrimps in the NHL. Not even between the pipes.

I'm not sure i understand all this 'shrimp' talk.
Hockeydb lists Saros as 5'10", 180 lbs.
Hey list Jaro Halak as 5'11", 179 lbs.
Am I missing something? Do goalies stop growing at 18?

Saros was listed 5'11" in Draft Combine. Usually we Finns grow until we are 20 (I stopped growing when I was 19) so it could be possible to grown an inch or two.

And what a great goalie. After the hazardous play against Sweden it really soothed watching Saros play. So calm, so good.
