He just broke Kari Lehtonen's shutout record in the Liiga. At the moment he's probably the best goalie in the Finnish Elite League.

And this while his team is 10th out of 14 teams in the league. He's been very impressive behind a somewhat of a bad team.

Saw him today against jokerit and wrote something about him in the Teuvo Teräväinen -thread

Edit:
Today I saw a bit of Juuse Saros (2013 4th round, 99th overall by Nashville) and he looked like a solid prospect. Although it was only one game I saw lot of good things in his game. He's only 5' 10" but he is able to track puck well and not allow any easy rebounds.

It's amazing how calm he is. Reminds me of other Finns like Kipper. Sometimes looks like he is taking a nap mid-rebound.

EDIT: Doesn't change the fact that he is still very tiny for a modern goalie.

Of course he was drafted by Nashville. This kid is going to be great.

Very excited about this guy. Today was the first game I've gotten to watch him play from start to finish, and he was crazy impressive. Style wise (not talent, just style), he reminds me of Jaroslav Halak. He never makes the crazy acrobatic save because he is always in position and never panics. Exact opposite of Pekka.

If only the Preds were as good at drafting forwards as they are defensemen and goalies.

Hamhuis
Weber
Suter
Klein
Josi

(Jones in the future)

Rinne
Lindback

(Hellberg and Mazanec in the future)

Those are just a few.

Saros is probably a bit "tired" after all hurlyburly. Let in 4 (?) goals against Pelicans of 22 shots. And sits now #6 in save% (Leland Irving has the same sv%) with 92.50%.

I expect him to start climbing soon and fight for the 2nd spot (after Rynnas).

I must say that Ville Kolppanen has surprised me though and could be tough to beat.

Juuse Saros

Any one know anything about this kid? I was going through the Preds prospect list and they have him rated fairly high for an undersized goalie. Is he just quick, technical, or athletic?

Amazing speed to get up from the ice and great technique to cover most of the net at all times despite his small frame.

Should be in NHL after next year(2015-2016 season) if anything drastic doesn't happen.

Juuse has 6 shutouts, GAA 1,84 and Save-% 92,50, in a non-play-off-team. That's pretty damn good for an 18-year-old.

Best young goaltender after Tuukka Rask and Kari Lehtonen. I would put his performances
at their level. He is that good.

Saros set a new rookie record for most shutouts by a rookie in Liiga tonight, posting his 7th shutout of the season.

In 43GP this season he has 15 W's with a GAA of 1.78 and a SV% of 92.72%.

His team still has a chance to make the first round of the playoffs, being tied with Ilves for the final playoff spot before the last round of games on Thursday.

Any chance he gets selected for the World Championship?

Impossible to tell at this point. It depends largely on who else is available. Last year all 3 goalies came from Liiga, and Saros has been one of the best netminders this season, as were the ones who got picked last season (Raanta, Ortio and Engren).
