Solid hire by Pittsburgh!

Under Dubas, the Leafs were one of the most exciting team and very competitive. He will have learned from this experience and be an even better exec.

I’m not sure if it’s PR or not, but going from Shanahan’s press conference a second ago, with Brad, seems there is a little hard feelings between himself and Dubas.

I’m guessing they had a pretty significant conversation, and figured it out together.

I was actually pretty impressed overall.
And I take back a few things I said earlier

A team desperately holding onto 35+year old players with injury histories remaining healthy and effective to come in... 9th place is about as bleak a situation as one can be in.
We aren't winning anything any time soon anyway, might as well enjoy the last years of Sid and Geno and then tank.

Tulsky is already reportedly a favorite candidate for the GM job and apparently killed it in his interviews.

He also reportedly likes the dynamic he has with Waddell, so the Pens went out and got a guy who will happily run the team in many ways while Tulsky focuses on what he’s good at.

Pretty sure only way this doesn’t happen is Carolina makes Tulsky GM, and kicks Waddell upstairs, but there’s been no sign that the Canes are going to do that.

A Tulsky-Dubas tandem will be an absolute coup in PIT. FSG is off to a good start.

Burke to Dubas as presidents in Pittsburgh. I’m sure Treliving is pleased his next job is already lined up.

On a more serious note, congrats to Dubas and the Pens. Curious to see how this position works in that he’s not the GM. He did a lot of good building a roster here, but was never able to crack the nut of getting out core to work. The big question is if the Leafs culture of coddling our stars came from him or somewhere else. Hell do well with the cap and guiding drafts. Mostly it will be about how much hes learned from his time in Toronto.

Best of luck.

Imagine saying something like this "Crosby will maybe miss time as well and continue to slide down the hierarchy of NHL forwards in the present day."

When this is readily available with just a couple of clicks.

You realize this just supports my point? lmao. Crosby played a full 82 and finished 16th in scoring. You think a Prime Crosby that plays a full 82 finishes 16th in scoring? He's sliding and given his age will likely continue to slide.

What has he done to earn president of hockey ops?

Ridiculous.

So will he be making the decisions or whoever the GM is. Assuming he isn't the gm.
He's proved himself to have excellent managerial skills, which is arguably the most important skill when it comes to being POHO, on top of having a good knowledge of the game ? His weaknesses (i.e. negociations) aren't going to hinder him much as POHO as it would as a GM.

If you don't understand context and have critical thinking I can understand this argument
I think I'm looking at it fine. I'm allowed to have an opinion, I think he was saying those things to appeal to the fans and management and used it as a negotiating tactic. Doesn't mean I don't have critical thinking skills, but thanks for the unnecessary jab.

Pittsburgh is going to have Dubas/Tulsky running things, very jealous. Don't know if they can work enough magic on this roster for anything special while Crosby's still going but at least there's smart people in charge for the long-term.

Didn’t Dubas say two weeks ago he was taking a year off to be with his family?

I would also skip a year off if someone gave me a boatload of money. People change their minds.

He did nothing different than any normal person looking for a job. He is just doing jt in the public eye

Agree to disagree. Saying it's Toronto or nothing would imply that if it didn't work here he wouldn't go sign elsewhere right after, which is what he did.

That’s like a player saying the only place I want to play is team X. Then Team X letting them go and them not signing anywhere.

People change their minds all the time. Opportunities change and so do situations. You don’t have time to think. If he turns down the offer now. He most likely doesn’t get another until a year from now.

93 points for 8.7M is a steal. You seem to think that the Pens guys are all making 12M. All three well outperformed their cap hits last year and will continue to do so as the cap jumps next summer.

It's like you're stuck on 2021's Cap Friendly page. The Pens have lots of space and only three important hols to fill.

Could be worse.

Could be a team that was a borderline dynasty but nobody cares anymore because they went out of their way to cover up sexual assault.
You know you don't have much of a refute when you result to silly non-sequiturs to try and get a "cheap shot" in there

It sounds like the GM job is down to Darche or Botterill. I wonder if there's a succession plan in Carolina for Tulsky to become GM in the next couple of years.

No FSG, I reject your promotion and multiple millions of dollars. I made an offhand comment in a press conference two weeks ago before being fired in Toronto.
