It’s interesting how people have such a strong opinion on Dubas on both sides of the spectrum, considering he really hasn’t done much to warrant such a strong reaction one way or another imo.

I don’t get the Dubas hate. Leaf fans all of a sudden turn on him and now hes awful? Dubas put together a team that should have competed, if not won the cup. Thats moreso on the players than Dubas.

He depleted their future but sometimes you have to do that to win the cup. I remember Rangers went multiple years in a row without a first round pick. We never won anything and still havent

Catastrophically bad hire for Pittsburgh.

Dubas was a total failure and disappointment for a half decade as GM in Toronto - - now someone is dumb enough to promote him to president.

Wasn’t close to being ready for the GM job and definitely isn’t close to being ready for this job either.

Watch how badly he gets exposed in Pittsburgh. I’m super excited to watch the train wreck unfold!

It's better than him being GM and president. I think he can set up some good departments (health, player development, media relations lol), but needs an actual nerd/brainsy guy to do the actual team structure, negotiations, trades, coaching hires etc.

Over 75% of the people calling this a dumb move are Leafs fans. The bitterness is funny.

Funny enough, 99% of the people calling Dubas an idiot when he was in Toronto were non-Leaf fans. Those same people are now claiming he's a great GM

The same way they did with Kessel and every other person that's left the Toronto organization.

super happy for Pittsburgh.

I'm sure kyle's family will enjoy all Pitts has to offer. his wife taught here in Hamilton, so I'm sure she's used to the "wonder" that is the city of Pittsburgh.

I think he also prefaced not popping up next week. To his word, it's been a few weeks.

I think he also said it's Toronto or nothing, that he'll take time off. Regardless everyone knew the moment he said that, it was a load of BS. Negotiating isn't Dubas' strong suit. I think he'll do well as the president, he has the right idea. The problem in Toronto was we let him learn on the job and it cost us. Overall he's a good GM, just an atrocious negotiator, now as president he won't have to worry about negotiating.

As a Pens fan if the options are Ron Hextall, Brad Treliving, or Kyle Dubas, Dubas is by far the best options. The playoffs can be a crapshoot but 221-109-42 record as a GM speaks for itself. Bitter Leafs fans are funny though
A lot of Leaf fans really liked Dubas. The other half had an irrational hate. IMO, this is a great addition for Pittsburgh. But Dubas is putting himself in a tough position given where that team is at.

Ohhh my very good source was correct the other day... I posted this is a different Dubas thread that he would be named president in Pitts soon.. now we wait to see if I go 2 for 2 and Spezza will be hired now soon as GM !!

I myself would be shocked if Spezza is named GM... I would guess maybe Asst. GM.... Maybe the guy telling me all this meant Asst. GM

And over 75% of the people calling this a good move are the ones who shat on Dubas when he was Leafs GM.

Works both ways.
I think those people just overall shat on the Leafs in general. Not Dubas per se. That’s what your media making you the center of everything gets you. Backlash.

Who built the roster filled with so many underachievers?

One or two years of disappointing playoff failures is maybe in the players. But when it’s FIVE (5) consecutive years of the same thing, that’s 100% on the GM.

Sorry about your luck, Pittsburgh.

You realize this just supports my point? lmao. Crosby played a full 82 and finished 16th in scoring. You think a Prime Crosby that plays a full 82 finishes 16th in scoring? He's sliding and given his age will likely continue to slide.
You realize that everyone ahead of him on that list is under 30, less Karlsson.
