Smart guy.

He took a team who lost in the first round 3 consecutive years before he was GM and traded 3 1st round picks only to lose in the first round 7 consecutive years. He then doubled down and traded another 2 1st round picks in his final year for a second round exit.

He's never proven any success at the NHL level - and now never has to because he's not the GM.

There's very few people who can obtain a high level position with zero results, Dubas seems to be one of them.
Sour grapes.

Pathetic

If you want a more realistic take, Malkin and Letang will each miss like 35+ games and be mostly ineffective even when healthy. Crosby will maybe miss time as well and continue to slide down the hierarchy of NHL forwards in the present day. Pens will miss the postseason once again. And Matthews will have already signed his 8 year/Eleventy Gazillion dollars extension in Toronto by then. Dubas and whatever GM will be fired in 3 years or so when somebody needs to take the fall for the team's obvious and natural decline.
Imagine saying something like this "Crosby will maybe miss time as well and continue to slide down the hierarchy of NHL forwards in the present day."

When this is readily available with just a couple of clicks.

Suddenly, Dubas is an elite manager on the hf mains!

Seriously though, he will finally get respect now that he isn't associated with the Leafs. He's a top manager in the league if not the best.
With Shanny meddling, we will never know how good Dubas could have been in Toronto....Maybe he would be way way better or its possible he could have been far worse.....

Ah, yes, Wikipedia, the ultimate arbiter of a person's capabilities.
The funny part is people quote that as proof that its fine Shanny is POHO for the Leafs because he spent years in the NHL front office as an executive, while ignoring that he reitred in Nov 2009 and became a VP in the NHL in Dec 2009. Lmao. Zero chance he was qualified for that first role.

Not sure why, player retires and in 1 month and becomes VP, then becomes POHO 6 years later is okay...while AGM becomes GM becomes POHO over 9 years is not.

In you’re mind , like you’ve been saying maybe, not everyone else.

Actually, you know what, I’m gonna double down here.

The absolute saltiness “Some” Toronto Maple Leaf fans because of extremely spinned one sided story, is hilarious.

Does Shanahan have every right to be pissed off?
Sure, of course, he got blindsided for sure.
But people treating Dubas like he’s some piece of shit, because clearly he found a bigger opportunity elsewhere, is pretty funny.

I’m not saying it’s OK, but tempering is done by literally every single organization, it’s obvious that kyle knew he had this opportunity if he left toronto, and got it.

He played it well.

The saltiness you bring to every leafs related thread is hilarious

Dubas played it about as bad as you could, he used his family as leverage thinking he'd get 7M a year here and it back fired. 100% confirmed now that it was not a family decision as he claimed it was, he claimed he wouldn't go anywhere else even if he didn't come back (lol)

I don't care about tampering.

There's no charitable interpretation of saying you won't go somewhere else during negotiations then immediately going somewhere else when they refuse to pay you.

And it fits right in with claiming you're not sure you want the job due to family issues before asking for more money.

I'm not a Leafs fan btw.

smart by dubas IMO if he was hired as a GM he would be fired within 2 years. as president he gets more time to screw the pens I suppose

absolutely DUMB by Fenway group. But they did can Burke within 2 years of hiring him; Fenway is cutthroat they care about results they won't put up with his charlatan ways the way MLSE board did.
Apparently he was their guy, he immediately jumped 8 other candidates when he became available.

This response sounds a little salty......alot still to play out. Pens fans should be excited as FSG and Dubas are on the same page and still want to compete the last 1-2 years of the current core. Its why Hextall was canned when he had the greenlight to nab someone in FA and came up with Granlund for Crosby and Malkin............they would never say it but had to be unexciting for those guys.
