This team is a couple more injures away from being a lottery team. Not liking the way this season has started.

Our 1st is currently at 13th, with another loss or two tacked on to the current two consecutive losses they could conceivably drop as low as 6th or 7th with other teams behind them winning a game or two. It's early but this team could start bottoming out quick without Thomas as they're already the 9th worst offense and it's going to get worse over the next couple months. We could easily be inside the top 10 for that time period and possibly even inside the top 6-7 picks. That's Logan Hensler/Charlie Trethewey territory brah, they're both big, skilled R shot RD and thinking about getting one of them gives me the warm fuzzies.

The thing is, even if we get a lottery pick I like this team far more than the last 2 years.

A top 6-7 pick before we start our ascend wouldn’t bother me

Having Schenn - Buch as our 1 and 2 center is going to be rough ride these next 2 months.

I agree with everyone. How dare Bannister assemble a roster with only 3 high-end players and only 2 Centers. Then how dare Bannister pay the other team to hurt the only player who is both in Thomas. How dare he?!?!?! He should be fired for that.

Not to mention Bannister obviously assembled a D core with no high end D, and the Bannister kicked one of the few top 4 D, Leddy, in the shin until he got an owwie and couldn't play. I don't want to ask what he did to hurt M.Joseph who was playing really well and had some chemistry.

But the Thomas, Leddy and Joseph injuries are obviously all Bannister's fault, as is the already shitty team we had entering the season when healthy. Boo that man, Boo!!!

The talent on this team is good enough to not look like garbage. That's on Bannister, not being able to prepare the team to start games on time is on Bannister, We've looked like shit since the win in Toronto and all I remember is Bannister going into the locker room after that game and saying yay guys we're off tomorrow! I mean it gives me weak ass Sheldon keef vibes. Let's dance and listen to music during practice to right?

That’s not an uncommon practice in professional sports in the midst of a lot of games clumped together. I don’t think letting a team be loose during some practices are a bad thing either. Obviously after a game like this it’s probably not going to be a loose practice. But in general I don’t think any team is ran strictly militantly.

Look we’ve had ALOT of key injuries in a short stretch of time. This is going to happen every once in a while, if it continues to happen then we have a problem.

Bannister has taken a team that was frankly a mess and had a winning record while in the midst of a retool. I’m not trying to champion him as the best coach ever. But he’s done a pretty good job, or at least gotten the team to play at a much better record since he’s been at the helm.

I had to turn off the game after 5-0. But Hofer looked to have a pretty rough game, although he was not alone. Im far from worried about our goaltending.

I dont know how interested I am anymore in watching Schenn get undeserved ice time. Im not trying to place this game at his feet but I dont think he knows how to lead and his play on the ice is uninspiring

I think their real Captain is on IR

Undeserved? Who "deserves" the ice time more? No one really earned their ice time last night. If you really wanna point fingers then I'd say Kyrou (0 goals in 9 games, 3 pts in last 7) or Buch (2 pts in last 7) aren't earning their ice time either. Your best players have to lead the way on the ice and they aren't doing it right now. Yeah Schenn isn't playing well but not sure why our two highest-paid forwards are immune to criticism.

Tkachuk put on a pretty good show for his doubters last night. Guess anyone won't be questioning his leadership after that performance.

Yes his leadership and the direction of the Senators are clearly outlined by this game tonight and not the past 2-3 years of history.

I would agree none of our guys really earned anything tonight. Like that were more willing than we’ve been in the last 3 maybe more years to get involved in scrums and stick of for guys instead of avoiding the after whistle shenanigans. But yeah the play overall tonight was pretty bad up and down the lineup.

Well apparently some people think the Blues effort last night was partly due to Schenn's poor leadership. It's silly for fans to act like they know what kind of a "leader" a captain is, regardless. Not like strong leadership can will an entire team to victory on its own.

Either way, Tkachuk and Ottawa looked like men last night while the Blues lineup looked like a bunch of minor leaguers who had no answer for them. Our top players were no shows yet again and the defensive system has evaporated. Hofer's worst game as a Blue didn't help either.

I wonder if people will change their tune about Brady if/when he scores 40 and Ottawa makes the playoffs. I'd probably trade Kyrou and Bolduc/Snuggerud for him, but doubt it would be enough.
