Bozak is definitely interesting if he's super cheap (as in, Leafs pretty much gives him away as a pure cap dump).

He's really not that bad, got a bad rep because of the situation he was put in.

I would love Bozak as our 2C. That would definitely be a good acquisition, depending on what it will cost though. 1 year deal remaining at 4.2m is something we can fit under the cap.

PS: Speaking of Toronto, what are the chances JVR, who is UFA in 2018, does a "Shattenkirk" and signs with us for a favourable cap-hit, given he has been a Rangers fan ever since he was a kid? Quite similar situations.

I'd be very happy with Bozak on the team. Unfortunately I too think that they won't do anything super interesting at this point, a couple 4C signings to fill out the C. Its unfortunate because I'm still waiting for that 1C signing, which we probably won't get.

While no one would LOVE the move, it's Tyler Bozak we're talking about here, I would definitely support it if he could be had at a good price. I'd rather go into the season with him at 2-3C than sign a guy like Jokinen to play 4C.

When comparing to the Shattenkirk situation, the chances might be pretty big. Not sure what he thinks of his current position in the leafs, if he likes it or not. Nonetheless I'd be real happy with him on the team.

Does SJ try to plug the hole that Marleau leaves? What all would have to go with Nash at 50% to SJ for Hertl?

Was just thinking that same thing.

Not sure what we might give up that is of interest of Carolina, but I would definitely be interested in Teuvo Teravainen who was rumored to be available at the deadline. Teravainen is a really smart and slick playmaker. Would help our PP a lot. And I think he fits right into our mold of attacking with depth and that he would fit very well next to many of our other players. Definitely has some potential too.

Teravainen is a natural center but has been used mostly on the wing since his defense isn't he best, but he could fill in there or play next to another center and help that center a lot.

They don't really have any depth needs, i'd say it would be pick(s)/prospect(s) if they need to dump Bozak.

Edit: Maybe they'd like Holden, depends how high they are on Marincin as their #6 D.

It's only 1 year of Bozak, and he's on the 3rd line behind Matthews and Kadri. I wouldn't mind Holden + Gropp for Bozak. It would fix our hole down the middle. Sign Jokinen and we are set.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Miller-Bozak-Nash
Vesey-Hayes-Buchnevich
Grabner-Jokinen-Fast
Puempel

Bern- What do you think? Staal and Zucc, both at 50% retained, for Teuvo Teravainen, a 2nd and a 3rd in 18'. Sign Radulov.

Kreider-Zib-Buch
Nash-Teravainen-Radulov
Grabner-Hayes-Miller
Vesey-Nieves-Fast
McD-DeAngelo
Bereglazov-Shattenkirk
Skjei-Smith

Thoughts? ;)

They're not trading Kadri, he's their matchup C and he broke out last season.

Isn't Kadri centering their 3rd line... behind Matthews and Nylander? They'll probably push hard to move JVR after the Marleau contract but they have to be looking at shedding some salary outside aside from JVR?

Forget Bozak. What about Kadri?

Yes. Bozak has a modified ntc, slightly lower cap than kadri ($4.2 v $4.5). Bozak has 1 year left and kadri has 5.

For the leafs, it might be more attractive to trade kadri instead. 2nd line center but with Marleau coming in, presumably as a wing, and Shoshnikov ready for full time nhl wing duties, it might be time to put Nylander at center on the 2nd. Bozak can come off the books right before some expensive contracts are signed with Matthews and Nylander.

If we sent zuccarello it's an even cap swap but they shed years. And zucc is off their books with those new contracts kicking in.

They can trade us JVR if they want haha. But seriously... JVR replacing Nash next season is an idea I am going to ponder for a few days

Maybe they think Andersson is ready to go and roll with Zibanejad-Hayes-Andersson.

I think Andersson almost is less of a natural center than Miller. If he made it right away, I think it would be on the wing.
