I'd include Andersson to get Karlsson, I think we reached on him there, by no means am I saying he's a bust, but if you can get EK for the 7th overall pick you kinda gotta do it.

I mean I could be wrong, but if a team knows they have to give this guy a 11M per extension AND give up assets to trade for him, how much would a team really be willing to part with?

100% depends on what we're giving up, for me.

If it's Hayes, Spooner, and Zuccarello? Sure.

If it's Andersson, Hajek, 1st, 1st? GTFO.
That's exactly what I'm thinking like if the price is too high then I'm fine not having him but if we get him at a reasonable price then I'm good for it

just saying I would love to have EK especially if its to put with Kravstov, Chytil, Mika, Buch, etc. it all comes down to the price (which could be significantly lower if they're taking on Ryan too)

No you don't.

still not sure how you do that with ALL of Staal, Henrik, Shattenkirk, Zucc (even though he's up for FA) on the books, as well as a decision needing to be made on Hayes.

Staal sucks and won't (shouldn't) play much. He's a hit away from LITR.

Henrik is here until he doesn't want to be

Shatt too.

Zucc and Hayes may not be here a week from now, let alone a year from now.

Regardless if those 2 want to be here or not, it still isn't a true rebuild when you have those kinds of players on the team, when/if Hayes/Zucc are traded then I'll believe this is a true rebuild, because it makes little sense to keep them if they're not going to be contending for 3+ years

and you'll be lucky to find a pick a #7 thats anywhere near as good as Karlsson.

To be exact they will:
- ask him some questions about Namestnikov signing
- ask about the defenseman they signed yesterday
- ask what else they're planning to do in free agency, to which he'll reply that "they're talking to a bunch of guys, and the price was a bit too high for some of the other guys that have been signed already"
- ask about potential trades, to which he'll say they're "open to a lot of things, and having conversations, and seeing how things play out"
- and finally they'll ask about the remaining RFA's, and he'll say "the conversation is on going, and they're hoping to get them done soon"

3/5 on this one

Didn’t talk about UFA market and trades

They did say they’re giving Smith a chance this year and they’re expecting him to be the top 6 player they signed

Agreed --> I see it as that we'd be the middleman and take on Ryan's deal and get an asset in order to do so. So it'll be two separate transactions, where we'll send a weaker package to Ottawa to get Karlsson and Ryan, but flip Karlsson to Vegas for something like Suzuki/Glass and Colin Miller as a base.

I'm sure there's a way to work out a three-way deal in here somewhere.

that would be amazing entertainment...but you can't flip him immediately. i want atleast a week of 'see i told you the rangers aren't really rebuilding' posts before the 2nd move and everyone's head explodes lol

TB could make a push for Karlsson. They missed out on Tavares. Three of their defensemen (Stralman, Coburn and Girardi) are UFAs next summer. Does Ottawa demand Sergachev? TB doesn't want to take Ryan.

Not sure trading Skjei makes sense for this organization right now.

I'd give them DeAngelo for sure.

Eh I think it makes more sense than one would think.

We're loaded with LHD. 2 of them are relatively close to being NHL ready. Even if we move him, we have NHL experienced bodies in Staal and Smith. Stop gap LHD's are not hard to find.

They don't need all of their LHD prospects to hit either, just 2. If you have a legitimate #1 RHD, that will mask any deficiency his partner may have. EK could literally drag a garbage can around the ice and make it work, which he's basically done in Ottawa and would do here if he were paired with Staal.

I think Skjei's value is at a low right now, and will only go up over the next 2 seasons. Especially if he gets partnered with Karlsson. I just dont think A) Its good asset maximization and B) It makes sense to create a hole at #1LD losing a 24 yar old to fix #1RD with a 28 year old.

Lol it's a true rebuild and has been since they traded away half of their roster. They traded away their captain, fired AV and hired a college coach, made all their picks at the draft and stayed the hell out of UFA.

Again what more proof do you need?

They need to tell Hank to take a 1 year sabbatical. Then I'll believe. :sarcasm:

Pionk/ADA, Buch, Spooner 2019 2nd.
I think this package would need another 2nd and I also would like to find a way to sub Buch for something else.

Call me a sucker but I want to see the kid get a season under someone not named AV.

This is debatable, but fair.

I completely disagree that his value is at a low. I think he has the most value of any player on our roster right now.

My preference would be to spin Hayes+Pionk+others in place of Skjei, but I have a tough time thinking that can't or wouldn't be beat.
