Sorry but the upgrade from Nylander to Tkachuk isn't enough to warrant giving away arguably our top prospect and a first for. In fact based solely off of playoff performance Tkachuk is a downgrade unless he finds his game there.

Yeah, he asked for Draisaitl (8.5) money in 2018, he'll probably ask for 10 in 2024. My fear is we extend Nylander to something horrendous like 9.5×8 and let Matthews walk in free agency.

Ya Nylander sat out half a year to get his extra few hundred thousand or 1 million or whatever and people think he will basically take a 1 million pay pump after putting up far better numbers on his current contract. Idk

We wouldn’t let Matthews walk despite the Nylander contract but we’d go right back to 3 10+ million forwards.

I’d rather pick 2, Matthews/Marner, get a new core for Nylander (6x6) locked and if JT can still score goals at the end if his deal, give him the Giroux contract for 3 years.

Blues looking to dump a bad contract at the same time to fit the Cap in.

No, that's not how the Salary Cap works. If they sent him down, they would get $ 1 million in cap relief, and the rest of the cap stays on the books.

Agreed. It's hard to believe someone will want to pay a 2nd for Kerfoot when they can just sign someone for free. We're probably going to have to move him for a fairly poor return.

That overlooks the fact that Kerfoot will carry a $3.5 million cap hit, but is only owed $750,000 in cash. That is definitely of appeal to low budget teams with lots of cap space.
