i think you're being incredibly biased. One of the worst things you can do is have your core grow up in a losing environment season after season. Talbot gives them a cheap reliable and short term fix in net which is good enough for a team to sneak in to the playoffs. G and weegar (SHOULD they get them is the caveat) would add serious veteran help and both will be great locker room presences. Debrincat gives them two legitimate lines and they didn't pay much to get him.

And a 3rd and 7th is nothing to get 4.5m+ for two years off their books to help facilitate some key vet signings/trades. Dubas who you both are praising and in a vacuum is a good gm as well paid a first to get 6M for 1 yr off the books.

You and morgs implying that dorion isn't having a better offseason than dubas is incredibly biased and honestly... just wrong.

Not to mention that Talbot is in a tandem with forsburg who had a great year as well.

As a 1a/1b tandem they're exactly who you want not a boom or bust guy and two unproven rookies

I would have been down with Zacha for cheap. I doubt he’s a huge difference maker but I think there could be something there.

exactly. Like that's the issue right. Take the damn L. Dorion's moves have been fantastic and it's ridiculous to argue otherwise. Does he have enough to mess it all up? Sure. But as it stands he's slapped dubas this offseason. At least lets not try and play some mind games and come out with a new type of science to justify dubas.

Hopefully kyle figures it out today.

Zacha to BOS. The Atlantic keeps getting stronger.

Boston will be interesting, given the number of players out to start the year, and with some significant injuries. They'll be a strong team by the end, but how far behind will they be. Atlantic will be a dog fight for sure.

Lebrun saying Halak, Samsanov and Lankinen all connected to the Leafs
halak and samsanov would be great gets. Halak would probably be safer, more reliable and the "right" move. But samsanov's potential is tantalizing.

Imagine if that Chris Johnson nba meme reference was referring to Kadri coming home to Toronto

I wish we could bring him back but no space unfortunately

There is a zero percent chance this management team would bring Kadri home at $2 mil.

Lankinen was so bad with the Hawks for the last few years. I don't get it.

Samsonov is all upside and would be a better bet to me.

Halak has a long track record and an exceptional veteran. Not sure I believe the Leafs being interested in a 5'11" 37 year old.

The managenent team would be in the wrong then

Kadri played a huge role for the Avs. If we could fit him in, and the management team refused to bring him back then the management team can go and we can get a quality 2C/2LW to complete our top 6.

He won't be returning though. He wants his 7-8M contract which gets LTIR by year 3 or 4. Deserves it after a great career and being pretty underpaid

Good few months as rookie then the league figured him out

Honestly reminds me of Blaine Lacher back in 90's

All downhill once NHL knew how to play him

Samsanov is fine. Other two are underwhelmimg

Honestly I would have just went with Halak and Samsanov and totally cheap out and hope we could fix samsanov and bettered our offense/defense considering what we did lol.

Dorion traded Gustafsson, Murray, a 3rd, a 7th, and got back 35 year old pending UFA Talbot while retaining $1.6 million.

Dubas traded nothing for Murray with 25% retained, a 3rd, a 7th.

Anyone who frames this as a win for Dorion is being irrational and not looking at the evidence. It's not a "big win" for Dubas as he didn't use his full leverage - everyone knows that. But it's not a loss.

Samsonov hasn't been great lately, but would probably come with a chip on his shoulder that Wash with all those Russians let him go. Could be really motivated.
