I really like the idea of Sandin for Hayton but I am still leaning on Sandin for Matt Roy. The Kings are in a cap crunch with <5M to sign Durzi and Anderson. This deal will clear them 1M+. Roy pairs with Rielly. His contract is up when Muzzin/Brodie come off the books so the Leafs will have money to keep him.

NJ is full of bottom 6 options and need an NHL 3RD. Holl for Bastian or McLeod would work for both teams. McLeod is a little iffy because of the 2018 WJC team so I would prefer Bastian - Bastian is also bigger and better but not a natural C. If the Leafs sign ZAR they run ZAR-Bastian-NAK as a perfect 4th line.

Kerfoot can be shipped out for picks. There might be a match with Winnipeg who appears to be missing a top 9 forward.

I love that line up except for steeves. I'd put Robertson in the 2 LW slot.

Super random thing here... but Leafs are set okay ... moves to be made forsure.

Thing is I was thinking back to the Clark and Roberts type of play. Hard not to with this team.

Bunts is awesome but they need a guy like Clark. Is there even a comparable anymore? Totally different time.

Maybe it's Knies when he's done his season and joins leafs before playoffs.

I thought I heard on Overdrive this week that Dubas said that Sandin won't play the right side in his presser this week?

Does that mean either a Muzzin trade, or would they ask one of the vets like Muzzin or Gio to Move to the right side? Or kiss Sandin goodbye.

Muzz only moves if he wants to and to me thats an LA deal or nothing. They are actually a lot more competitive than when he left so maybe. The concern, which may not be Kyles, is that his loss and that of Boosh softens them up too much. Not sure Savard at this stage in his career is up to the challenge although I wanted him a couple of years ago. With Muzzins cap gone I think they would need to aim a bit higher but that meanss a trade and there would be more assets on the move than just a Kerfoot or a Holl.
I guess you didnt hear what happened with ryan mcdonagh in Tampa. They told him they were gonna waive him and Colombus confirmed they would claim him. Then proceeded to tell him you can either go to Colombus or waive to a team you are more comfortable with.

Regarding Kerfoot: Anaheim, a team looking to reach the cap floor while previously displaying internal financial limitations, has three 2nd round picks next year. Their own, likely not for sale, as well as Boston's and Colordado's. I'd target the Boston 2nd. Anaheim could likely get more by trading Kerfoot to a contender at the deadline after riding shotgun with Zegras or Terry for half a season.

I think a deal could happen for Crouse, as long as his extension is reasonable, as Kerfoot is perfect for Zona. Cheap real salary, last year on contract and can trade for more picks at TDL.

Same. If Kerfoot is gone, you need to get at least a 2nd. And with Holl, a 3rd is a passable grade. Though a 3rd plus a later pick would be better. Ammo for the deadline.
On the market where Chiarot gets north of 4 million for 4 years Holl should have value. 2 million, can PK, has played in top4. UFA market was pretty crap and thin in overall, if you want to bolster your blueline it's trough trade, so would hope there is at least two teams interested on Holl. Two picks would be nice and if it's 3rd and 4th or something like that, it would be nice. Sometimes we dreamed of 2nd, but it's long shot. Have to also factor in that he has one year for two, but buying team can also negotiate new contract for him right away and get more value out of that trade.

At development camp they should show him All Heart video everyday. First thing in the morning. They don't make players like Clark anymore, but that thundering wrister and willingness to hit every single time, that would be nice.

Thinking about it some more, I am definitely on the 'let the kids play' train now. I think we have a solid group of players that can insulate the new wave coming in and allows the Leafs to alleviate the cap crunch.

Bunting - Matthews- Marner
Robertson- Tavares - ???
Nylander - Jarnkrok- Anderson
Kubel - Kampf - Engvall
Clifford

Possible ????: Heinen, Puljujarvi(trade), niederreiter
Waiting in the wings: Holmberg, Steeves, Knies, Abruzzese

I think Kyle will add a 1st rounder ++ in a trade, to upgrade the return and increase cap space.

I’ve always felt TO should use JT to elevate other players as he did on the NYI.
Robertson and Anderson or Steeves?
But if they’re sticking with JT/WN as a unit, find a guy to fill the Hyman role. Iirc, they were cooking pretty good all together.

Today is around the time we should be able to capitalize on some guys markets haven’t developed for.

I think it’s clear at least one of Holl/Muzzin/Sandin will be moved.

Sam Steel, Sonny Milano, PK Subban, Calle Jarnkrok, Mattias Janmark, Zach Aston-Reese, Tyler Motte, Danton Heinen, Rem Pitlick

All could be some names

Well, we got Jarnkrok. Everyone else still on the board.

Curious about ZAR. There was a ton of smoke leading up to free agency.

Dubas said he prefers Sandin on the left side

Good point on Tavares, I think he has synergy with grinders who are willing to get him the puck. Kerfoot was never really a retrieval guy and nylander is nylander.

However, this year, I find running a grinding 4th line a fireable offense. We have prospects ready to step in and some semblance of depth.

What is our issue every single year in the playoffs?

Inability to score when it matters most. Game 6, leafs ran into penalty trouble, but that OT, they couldn't finish. Game 7 was just abhorrent.

I find it irritating that the 4th line is just a collection of misfits just on to kill time until the other lines come on. I really hope it changes this year. We need scoring and imo the best way to achieve that is to make another scoring line. Leafs have the depth this year to finally realize that, I think.
