Iirc Leafs have been interested in Jarnkrok before. And that's a guy who can handle C in a pinch. I wonder if they could get him for Holl's caphit.

I always found him very overrated. I never understood why he's so well liked and why the Leafs are always linked to him. I don't think he's worth much more than someone like Kampf and I don't think I'd go above his contract for Jarnkrok.

I'm a little surprised he hasn't been signed yet though.

Muzz-Brodie got the top matchups in the playoffs.

Brodie +5
Muzz +4

Kucherov -5, 3 even strength pts
Stamkos -2, 2 even strength pts
Point -6, 1 even strength pts

Muzz-Brodie dominated that matchup.
You really shouldn't allow facts to get in the way here. You know that facts are meaningless now next to "feelings", right?
Marner did nothing on the scoresheet after game 2 yet you can't specifically pick out any tampa players and say it was because marner was dominated from game 3 and on. If you know how logic work, you need to show more work how these 2 get credit for tampas core not doing much besides pasting down +/ -

I didn't quote the post from the zeke guy but it's a fact Brodie was terrible defenceman after new years and also Muzzin needs to be sheltered to last a full season + playoffs at this point his career so I don't think I'm the one using feelings replying with "wat" and +/ - to be more critical about Brodie's decline and muzzin not able to stay healthy for us. Point to me all the seasons we were able to rely on muzzins health. Still looking?

Banking on a declining soft defenceman turning 33 and an old muzzin is using feelings based on how our seasons have been ending. Brodie's window as a no.2 in our current build has closed (if your goal is a cup). Muzzin still has the tools but not the health.

Seems to me , the only way Holl is moved is to get an upgrade over him. They're dangerously thin on the right side and every signing they've made suggests Kerfoot is on the outs. They've signed a bunch of bottom 6 depth, have ~2M in cap and still need to sign or trade Engvall and Sandin. I have a feeling they'll be busy this weekend.

I had a dream that he was holding off because he wanted to sign with the Leafs, and they eventually signed him for 7 years at 7M per, and then the Leafs did a blockbuster trade to fit him in.
Naw. He's 32 in October before the puck drops.

Even if the Leafs had $50 million in cap space, IMO it would be a brutal contract and a terrible investment.

I think he grew up a Habs fan. Maybe he'll sign with the Habs

I always thought he's a perfect fit in Boston. A very Boston type of player

I really hope Dubas doesn't sign anyone else.

We need to give our young lads some good NHL experience. NHL experience is NHL experience
We have to find out what we have in Robertsson, Steeves and Anderson.

Anthony Cirelli, Jhonsson, Palat all internal players for Tampa. Even when they were young they played a lot in NHL

Stop signing aging vets like Joe Thornton, Wayne Simmonds. They just take away good spots from young lads

Stay the course Kyle. Don't sign aging vets. Play your own home grown players

Agreed. Even if they look a little crap to begin just leave them alone and let them learn. Matthews marner and nylander will still put up the wins for everyone.

Didn’t realize until yesterday that we didn’t qualify Rubins and then Ottawa snapped him up. A little strange imo since his QO was only like $787k. I guess they just wanted the contract room more…

The QO meant he would have been on a one way deal with us. He signed a two way deal with Ottawa. I liked his progress, but I'm not sure he was worth committing to a one way deal, when he's not going to be playing in the NHL at all this year... or very little. His AHL pay is $130k for Ottawa, it would have been $787k for us.

Well he's a very blah Swiss army knife that's produced at a 20gl/40pt rate the past few years in a middle six role while being trustworthy defensively on teams that take defense seriously, and a guy who has played plenty of C for good defensive teams.

A very vanilla but very useful player.

QO's are only one way deals. That's the reason why.

i really hope dubas addresses the top 6. we need to inject some power into that group, to change it’s complexion. i know this would involve creating some cap space . but you can’t run this top 6 group back again.

Money isn’t really an object for us, so my general thoughts remain the same

Because he's a mid-20's fringe AHL D?

I think he’s been quite good in the AHL from what I saw. Having guys who never amount to more than AHLers down there isn’t the worst thing.

We don't know if he wanted to come back, or wanted to pursue opportunities, with an easier path to the NHL. I mean, how many chances on the Left side will one get with Sandin, Mo, Gio and Muzzin ahead of him? Dubas is pretty good about letting people get opportunities in other places.

It's as simple as giving him a chance to find a fresh start somewhere sometimes, not really that the Leafs couldn't afford him. Leafs probably just wanted to go another direction as well.

Many of these players go unqualified and it isn't because they can't afford them.
